My son will be starting K next year, and I was just wondering if I'll get anything in the mail about registration, or should I just keep checking their website for information? I lived in Wake Co when my oldest was that age, and it seems like I got a letter from Wake Co regarding where/when, all that stuff. I can't seem to find anything on their website, isn't it usually in February? Also, do they have to have their physical before registration, or just before they start school?
Our son will start this year too. Just found this on thier web site: http://www.wcpss.net/isd/elementary/lang_arts/kindergarten/
This is for the wake county schools though right? I'm looking for Johnston County. Sorry, I didn't mention that, guess I should have.
Whhops!! This is for Wake sorry, I keyed in that your inital post said you got something from Wake County and did not realize you were not now, sorry!!
oh and you won't get a letter or anything, you'll just go to the school that you are districted for and get the Kindergarten packet, it'll have all the stuff you need and forms, etc.
If your child is in daycare the state "generally" sends a little note to the daycares reminding them of the dates for your county too.... We are currently doing the paperwork to enroll or little one at Wake Christian, but we live in Wake County so we got our letter from daycare this week!!! Hard to belive my baby girl is starting school and is getting so big!!:cry:
Yeah, that's what made me think of it. But my 2 little ones go to preschool in Wake County, and they had their info up today for Wake Co. registration. Kellbell - thanks for the info, good to know!
You're Welcome. did you click on the link I posted from JOCO schools? It has the forms you can go ahead and download and get those taken care of, and be a step ahead.
Yes, I did print them off and will have them ready to go! Thanks so much, I like to be organized as much as possible. You said registration starts the 18th, so does that mean it doesn't have to be done on that day? Just curious, I'd like to do it on the 19th if possible, since I won't have any kids that day...Boy, it sure will be nice when all the kids are in school so my days are easier to plan! (but I will miss them for sure, already sad the 2nd one's starting k next year!:cry
not due on the 18th, that's just when they start taking and handing out the packets, it'll go on through the summer even until the first week of school. I like having my ducks in a row too.
Just another FYI. Last year there were about 7 forms to fill out. It was not a zip in & out in 5 min's kind of day. Have all of your phone numbers & address, (contact info) for anyone that might need to pick up your child. Have the MD's info. The hospital you would use if needed. etc. There was one Dad there when I was there filling out my sons info- he was totally at a loss as to what to do. Poor Guy... he had to call his wife about 10 times to ask about stuff. You end up writting the same data over & over.
Absolutely! And Kellbell, since you seem to know what you're talking about on this subject - I'm assuming they will accept these forms there? Because I have filled them out and I'd hate to have to redo them!
The 18th is the "big day" for registration because the schools have booths set up to expedite the process. Most schools pull their teacher assistants to help with the paperwork, bus info, etc. They will make the necessary copies of shot records, birth certificates, etc. right then and there. Although you can still register at the school to which you are assigned on other days, it's done in the office and you will have to wait for the SIMS person to have time to work with you. The 18th is the better day to do it if you can!
yes ma'am, they will. The health forms, of course, you'll have to get to your pediatrician (I faxed mine and they faxed them back in a day or so) so he'll sign them. That's what took the longest. Of course you have plenty of time to make copies of Birth Certificate, Social Security cards etc. (they'll do it at the school, but if you show up with copies, it'll save time and they'll love you).
The below info is listed on the West View PTA site - www.westviewpta.com I could be wrong, but I think WestView may have sent some info out to existing students concerning Kindergarten Registration in Tuesday folders so parents would know when they could start registering the younger siblings. Kindergarten Registration Monday, February 18th 8am - 6pm It is important for parents or guardians to go to the school that serves their address to register their children. Registration takes approximately 15 minutes. The child registering for kindergarten must be 5 years of age on of before October 16th.
