WOW I am shocked!! What a smart kid to keep the message, now weather he should have posted it....

I would love to have heard his message, he says he thought it was professional, but since she was answering some of his questions, to me it sounded like his message was inappropriate too.

I think she is tired of being an administrators wife. The hours are horrible and there is a lot of stress, but that is not this kids fault and he got the brunt of it.

I bet her hubby was not too happy with her!!!

I heard it yesterday morning. Sounds to me as though he started it, but she probably shouldn't have finished it, LOL.

He might had not been as professional as he thought he was, but as the administrators wife, regardless of how mad she was, she should have kept her cool and responded differently. If like most places, what she does reflects on her husband. It might be one of those situations where two wrongs don't make a right.

On the Today Show, the hubby said he was proud of his wife for standing up for him. Seems the kid and the wife have now apologized to each other.

My thoughts are that point blank the kid shouldn't have called in the first place. if there was honest concern about the weather then one of the parents should have made the phone call not the kid, as such I feel that the wife responded appropiately. And I think that the kid who saved the message and posted it to YouTube did it just to stir up trouble.

I agree with Craig, the wife was probably just fed up, it happens. DH had a few people with his work that would call the house BEFORE they ever called his cell phone, which was protocol. Used to drive me nuts and I would have to grit my teeth to be polite, especially at 3:00 am.

The kid claimed he never thought it (the Youtube posting) would get all this attention. Says he wishes he hadn't done it - mmmmmm, yea, right! NOW he's sorry.

I remember the last time DH's work called him at home in the middle of the night. I went off, I told them not to call my house ever again like that, to call his cell (but in not so pleasant terms). When the phone rings in the middle of the night, it scares me, because I think something bad has happened to someone in my family.

It hasn't happened since, and that was about 7 years ago.

LOL, I would be SO bad, he'd be lying right there next to me, I KNEW they hadn't called his cell, and I'd say sweet as pie.........."he's not here, have you tried his cell phone??" Grrrrr!! :jester:

I would tell people not to call after 9 unless it was an emergancy, because I had children in bed. So if they wanted to call after 9 they better be bleeding cause if they weren't they would be. Oddly enough no one would call after 9 unless it was important.

    Here's another article:

This kid was all upset over why they didn't cancel school for 3 inches of snow! I'm from that area and we didn't get to leave early for 3 or 4 inches. We may have had a 2 hour delay in the morning if it had snowed overnight, but you still went to school. We very rarely got out early. I can only remember maybe 1 or 2 times. It had to drop atleast 6 inches for them to cancel school. Sometimes they'd cancel for less and blamed it on the more "rural" parts of the county.

I think the dean's wife was in her right to reply like she did. Maybe a bit more composure, but these kids need to understand that the world doesn't always answer when they bark. Yes, he was in his rights to ask by calling the office number, but not to call the dean at home.

Technological gap? Sure, I can see a bit.

I did see her husband on tv and he fully supported her. And the school Admin supported both the husband and wife. I had to laugh at the voice mail, I was pretty shocked at some of the things she said, but the kid could have called my home at the wrong time and might have gotten the same reaction from me, so.......no judgement here.

I just listed to the message, I agree with you Craig. This kid is 17, old enough to know better. Wonder if he is going to call the CEO's home when he is in the real world.

The whole point of this is a STUDENT took it upon themselves to phone the HOME of an administrator to complain about not getting a snow day.

While we don't hear the message he left for them, he obviously suggested that the administrator purposely let his call go to voicemail. No matter how "professional" this student may have appeared to the media, I highly doubt that he was humble in his message to the administrator, or it's unlikely the wife would have called him back and gone off on him.

Since when is it a students right to call a school administrator's home and question a decision?

Kids have gotten to darn big for their britches IMHO. Students have been making news via You Tube taunting teachers, so I guess moving on to administrators is how they are trying to get their jollies now.

I think that kid was definitely monkey'ing around by calling the School Administrator's home number....he had NO WAY of knowing what kind of response he was going to get out of the School Administrator's wife. I think it's a bit comical, yet blown out of proportion, like all stuff that hits the confounded media.

This pretentious teen was lucky it was just a phone call. I'm betting that had he showed up to the administrator's door to complain and his wife had answered said door....the kid might have gotten a hairbrush to his rear-end - and deservedly so! LOL!
