    Semi Off Topic- But................

How much is BASIC TW cable now? I mean the most basic/cheepest, no HBO, no TIVO stuff.

Do they even have Basic anymore?

    TIA.

Basic is $12.75, and it really is basic -- a dozen or so local channels.
Standard is $35.75, and includes, I don't know, probably 40 or so channels - CNN, ESPN, HGTV, etc., but it does not include the basic channels, so you would get that in addition to basic. That combination would give you all the channels that are listed in the N&O except the premium movie channels - HBO, etc.
Edited to add: The standard package also includes some channels that are not listed in the N&O TV listings, like C-SPAN.
I tried to get you a link to the pricing and packaging page for our area, but the page won't open. The site is: www.twcnc.com

Oh, they're sprouting up like weeds. Every time I drive down that road, there are a bunch more houses. Cable should be coming any day now.

we got a 12 month price of $90.74/mo (incl. taxes & fees) for RoadRunner & Cable (cable package is the Digipic 1000 on 1 TV, regular cable on 2 tvs, and DVR capability on the Digipic 1000 receiver.) Saved me about $28/mo for what I was paying with Sprint DSL and Dish Network combined, and I couldn't DVR with my Dish Network Receivers.
I specifically asked what I could expect the price to be when the promotional period was over, and they said about $15 more, or $7.50 per service. I hope they will stick to their word on that.

Noticed someone was talking about RR digital phone and power outages. TWC DOES have battery backup modems, if I remember correctly it's the Motorola 6100.... but here's the problem: a lot of installs are done by contractors, and TWC can't seem to get it through their skulls to send the contractors the batteries when they send the modems to the contractors. So when you order the phone, tell them you want the battery backup model, and when the installer comes and doesn't bring the battery with him, don't get mad at him, it's not his fault. Just call TWC back and they'll send one out via service tech.

When referring to RR Lite for 24.95 is that for RR Lite or RR Lite768? I'm back to earth and trying to save money and I want to call TWC and switch from Turbo to Lite,,,, but do I want Lite or Lite 768? We have 1 computer and 2 wireless with them. So I am paying 39.95 for 1st computer and 9.95 each for the other two computers. That is almost 60.00 for the computers.:( too much money. And we have Digipic 1000. Can't afford all this anymore but have no choice.

WOW! I have been paying TWC $144 a month for basic cable, phone, and internet! Clearly I am doing something wrong!

Yeah, cause the router is in the middle of the house so it is networking, so each wireless computer needs a signal,,,, was thinking of getting my own wireless router at Best Buy and that will save me 10 and 10 but I still have to pay for the main computer but I need to know if I want RR Lite or RR Lite 768? Then that will save me an additional amount. Oh, I pay TWC aboout 145.00 a month also for 3 TV's and 3 computers. Too much money.

    RR lite is < 30

I would recommend the middle tier "Road runner lite" it is 29.95 but is twice as fast as the 25 RRL768.

as far paying for networking multiple computers, you would be MUCH better buying your own router. if you already use wireless it should be pretty easy. make sure you setup at least basic WEP security on your router. you can get a decent router for just over $50
I had 5 computers and my phone(vonage) running over RRL768 and notice occasional lag, it wasn't a big deal (except on the phone).

Robbie - I have a router that you can have if you want it. It's a linksys wireless g. I just replaced it with the same type but the new on has speedbooster which is supposed to be faster. You will also have to buy a network adapter for each of the computers on the network (except the main one). They are around $50 each.

Anyway, if you want the router for free, pm me and it's yours.

I have a router someone can have also. It is just sitting in the original box. PM me if you want it. I may have one for printers too (wireless), I'll check.

Call your provider and make sure you are getting the best and current rate. I use Embarq, we haven't had any problems. I called about a year ago because I kept seeing the commercials and wondered why I was paying more for the service. They corrected my bill and I saw the adjustment on the next bill.

Don't want to discourage sharing but we have gone through three routers in two years, at least if you are as dependant as we are, it might not be bad to have a spare.

We are "RR Extreme", full balls to the wall.
