http://raleigh.craigslist.org/pet/552607151.html They are giving out our secret to the world....:lol::lol:
Hey, I noticed that too and wondered the same thing ljk. I've wondered about so many BYB listings on the classifieds lately too. That might be part of the reason for the sudden rise in puppy for sale ads here, who knows. Sometimes I will bring a post from CL here, but they are pound animals or animals in need of re-homing. Off to Bingo now, want to join me?
I followed your link and got the message that "This posting has been flagged for removal". What did it say?
I still had it open.... here it is.... hi, i have seen alot of people trying to rehome their pets and they get flagged just because they are trying to find their pets forever homes or because they dont like the breed (pit bulls, etc.)! not many people know of a site called 4042.com , it is ignorant free! you can not get flagged on that site. try posting there, its 4042.com. good luck in finding your pets forever homes! again it is an ignorant free site! update on my posts-there has been a total of 16 happy endings so far in 3 days, to those who have thanked me , its my pleasure directing you to 4042.com..YOU ARE VERY WELCOME! to people that keep posting their pets and list them for $120 and up please go to 4042.com. $120.00 and up is not a small adoption fee! it clearly states at the top right of the pet section (no breeding, no sales, rehoming/small adoption fee ok) and for all you people that keep listing high adoption fees aka sale prices wonder why you are getting flagged! 4042.00 does not have a limit on fees, you might have a better chance there and not get flagged. this is for small adoption fees! who ever keeps flagging this, you are wasting your time so ignorance looooooooooses!!!!!! again good luck rehoming Again, not me speaking... copied from Craigslist.
Interesting. And what does "an ignorant free site" mean? The writer certainly is a poor communicator.
It means the ignorants are free to sell their animals in the classifieds, and the 4042 posters are free to call them on it?
it looks like they are trying to help ive seen this ad before on graigs list, i have seen alot of people talk about this persons ad and they all think it was a good idea. i dont see the big deal, i see a person trying to help alot of people do have sale prices on graigs list, and it is really only for small adoption fees or free. maybe thats why this person told them about this site since it is for all types, rehoming/adoption/free/sales and we dont flag here. i dont see any wrong doing for helping others so i have no negative feedback.:hurray:
Well, I do have negative feedback. Many people who are involved with humane organizations on this board must cringe like I do when you see a pet advertised as "FREE" - These are the days of dog fighting. Fighting dogs are trained to fight using kittens/puppies/cats and even adult dogs as 'bait' In regular fights there is often a bait animal used to entice the fight. "SALE PRICES" ??? These are living creatures! Domestic Pets, NOT a freaking shirt or sofa - you would get totally wigged out if adoption agencies had "SALES" on children, wouldn't you? "REHOMEING/ADOPTION FEES" when done through rescues that are REAL rescue groups covers the cost to spay/neuter that pet, get it up-to-date on its shots, test it for heartworm disease(dogs) or FELV (cats) any other medical need that pet may have that might have required antibiotics, grooming, etc. Some rescues even microchip that pet before it leaves to go to it's forever home. When someone adopts one of these pets, all they need to do is bring it to their vet to let the vet meet it and drop off it's prior vet records - a typical 'meet the vet' visit like this for pets is under 60.00. Rescues might make a tiny profit on an animal here of there that had been altered prior to entering rescue, however, they get in the hole more often than not on an animal that needs more medical attention than others. Reputable breeders do not advertise on CRAIGS LIST, nor do the advertise on free classifieds such as 40/42 - Quality breeders of dogs with CHAMPION BLOODLINES that warrant those hefty price tags are VERY picky as to whom they sell a pup. A reputable breeder isn't going to hand over a pup to the first person who comes along with the cash price for one of their puppies. The carefully screen perspective buyers, even tougher than reputable rescues. They make it a point to be as certain as possible that that puppy is being placed into a home where it will be a good fit. Reputable breeders will usually have a stipulation in the buyers contract that states they (the breeder) want that pup back if for some reason it doesn't work out. If this was my domain, sales of pets would be banned from 40/42. :ack: Oh, and by the tone of the post, and considering it was their first post, I'd be willing to wager that KenlyAngel is one of those crossover listers who think they found a welcome home over here to move animals. If so, they are sadly mistaken.
THANK YOU zoo for taking the time. i cliff noted it up below for anyone too anxious not to educate themselves by reading your entire post.
Sorry im not perfect lol thanks for the correction, i usually spell it right but we all are not perfect lol
zookeeper with all do respect, my first post ? whats that all about? i think i have just as much right as you and everyone else to speak my opinion as well. you are directing that to the wrong person. if it was my domain i would ban pet sales as well. i agree with you, they are living animals but there is nothing anyone can do to get through to people who only care about money and not the animals, money seems to rule the world with everything and mostly everyone and its sick. i see alot of sad stories from people about their animals and why they are rehoming and they just want to get them a good home but then they turn around and ask for a rehoming fee of $450.00 and up. and or get a animal for free and then 2 days later you see their ad trying to sell them for so they can make money, its sad and i feel for the animals. so i would ban pet sales as well. i know about rescues, I myself adopted 2 rescue dogs and i have had both of them (brother n sister) for 7 years now. i also welcome rescued horses to myhome and care . we have a horse now that was left to starve and die and we have spend alot of money for his vet care but every cent was worth it and im sure its going to take more money. not to many people understand it takes money to care for them and alot do need medical attention . breeding, so many people are breeding! the way its over populated with dogs n cats you would think everyone would get their pets fixed but its comes back to the money issue, so called breeders are only out to make a buck. i am against breeding, i think if you breed you are sentencing innocent animals to death. (not directing that to legit professional breeders). there is millions of people but sadly we cant get through to all of them. mostly everyone in this country is to greedy for money and they use animals as their money tree. my heart breaks when i see beautiful living animals on death row in kill shelters, when so many people can prevent it but so many just dont care. i also adopted a puppy from the johnston county shelter a few months ago and the adoption fee was a little over 200.00 but it was worth it to me, he was extremly underweight. 4042 should have guidlines as well as craigs list, but it doesnt
On your original post (which was your very first post to 40/42.com) you stated: You mentioned: SALES FREE I SEE NOTHING WRONG I HAVE NO NEGATIVE FEEDBACK In my post following your first one, my comments should be self-explanatory, as I took each point separately. . .another poster even did a "Cliffs Notes" version  Then, your most recent post, (the first part of it is quoted at the beginning of this post) you stated: So. . .now, you DO see something wrong with the clisters posting here on 4042, and you DO have negative feedback. That's all well and good, glad you worked out how you feel. My comment about it being your first post is multi-faceted - but in a nutshell, in the past, when someone became a member, and posted to this Cat/Dog heading and ONLY to this heading, it was a clear indicator that that post is what they were here for. IF you are the exception to the rule, my appologies. . .People hawking animals is not generally accepted on this discussion board. Animals that are in actual shelters are occasionally mentioned, but in my humble opinion, NO reposts of crap from Craigs list belongs on this discussion board. People, for God's sake, there are enough animals dieing in the Johnston County shelters (there are two of them here remember???) and enough filling up the Wake SPCA and Wake County shelter - (also a kill facility), there are registered 401(c)(3) non-profits - Rohe Animal Rescue, JCAPL, New Leash on Life and a host of others - all of them have websites, all of them are easily accessible, that we really don't need postings from individuals who are looking to dump pets. With all the talk of this Distemper scare, wouldn't it be safer for the animals someone already has in their homes, and their neighbors' pets if we just left it alone? If ya want to go on Craigs List and look for a dog for yourself, then go - just leave it there - half of them probably are hired out by local puppy mills to unload pups. . .look at how young a few of them are. . .99% of those ads smell fishy.
zookeeper well said :hurray: this was my first commenting on here, i just signed up yesterday so im a newby. i think its great that we hear from all point of views on different things . i had only time to comment on one thread yesterday. and this happened to be the first and i used to see that ad posted on craigs list. another thread i read in here literally brought me to tears about someones horse dying. so sad. im not familiar with any other shelters except for johnston and garner, i pretty much stay in my own county lol, what are some other shelters that are in the triangle area? do they all accept donations? i wish i can rescue or adopt more animals, but i already have a house full. but i do encourage people to adopt from their local shelters to save a life. thats the best gift you can give those animals. have a blessed day
