Illegal Aliens To Get Tax Rebates

The just passed House Stimulus package intended to jump-start a sagging economy by giving citizens rebates, also includes cash benefits for illegal aliens!

The plan would benefit those illegal aliens who qualify as "resident aliens" - meaning they have spent a substantial amount of time in the U.S. and have not yet been deported. These so-called "resident aliens" also must have been assigned an Individual Tax Identification Number.

    What?

Assigning a tax number to an illegal alien in-effect legitimizes their right to be in the U.S!

First off, you know that pretty much anything Blingo posts is usually not credible, but you swallow it anyways!

Here is the official definition of Resident Alien:

    http://www.finsvc.duke.edu/tax/student/foreign.html

If I was a Canadian citizen that legally came to the United States for 60 days to work (and each summer on the resort where you have me hand out towels) and paid taxes on that, I might get a kick back (after all a lot of you said that Bill Gates because he paid taxes should get one, why is it OK for him to get some money back and not me?).

Same goes for Legal Resident Aliens that are invited in to work our crops.

May some of these Resident Aliens be illegal and get a rebate, it is possible, if they are paying their taxes, but unlikely.

Again you need to take anything that Blingo posts with a grain of salt, or better yet, investigate it yourselves.

FIRST I WILL SAY THAT HUEY NEEDS TO PROVE THAT I DONT POST CREDIBLE INFORMATION. WHAT HE MEANS IS THAT I POST INFORMATION ABOUT THINGS HE DOESNT WANT ANY ATTENTION TO BE BROUGHT TO. TYPICAL LIBERAL TRYING TO SNEAK UNDER THE FACTS.

HERES SOME CREDIBLE INFORMATION FOR YOU HUEY. PROVE IT WRONG!!!!!!

The text of the House passed bill contains language making "non resident aliens" _ illegal immigrants _ ineligible for the tax rebates. But every year, hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants use individual taxpayer identification numbers, known as ITINs, to file income tax returns with the IRS. These ID numbers are used instead of Social Security numbers. There are no exact statistics for how many illegal immigrants file tax returns, but this New York Times story from last year details the significant increase in use of ITINs. This story also lays out the issue.

COME ON HUEY!!!! PROVE THOSE FACTS WRONG!!!!!

I don't deny that they get tax numbers, we have set up a program so that these people will pay taxes like the rest of us. If you you would bother to look up the definition of Resident Alien you would see that that does not mean they are illegal. Tell you what, mark this one down on your calender and come June give us the names of 5, hell two "illegal" aliens that did not deserve to get their refund.

So you folks whine because you feel they live off your tax dollars and when they try and obey the law and pay taxes you whine.

ITIN's are legit. I issued and verified those numbers for exchange students at a local University, from all over the world they all get those ITIN #'s, that doesn't make them illegal....they pay taxes for their time in the US, there is nothing illegal about it.

For the record, I'd believe something Hught typed before someone who can't figure out where the caps lock key is, even after it's been brought to his attention about 50 bazillion times. Or do you just do it to aggravate people? :beathorse:

WELL WELL WELL!!! HUEY COULDNT PROVE THE INFORMATION WASNT CREDIBLE SO HE TRIES TO DEFER ATTENTION AWAY FROM HIS PAST STATEMENTS. JUST ANOTHER LIBERAL TACTIC WHEN THEY ARE PROVEN WRONG IN FRONT OF AN AUDIENCE!!!!

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NO OTHER ARGUMENT OTHER THAN TYPING WITH CAPITAL LETTERS THE INFORMATION YOU SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT IS BELOW. YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT CAPS AND THE ILLEGALS ARE OVERRUNNING OUR COUNTRY!!!!!!!

Tuesday is Tax Day, when millions of illegal immigrants find themselves collaborating with one federal agency - the Internal Revenue Service - while trying to avoid another - Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

They hope a track record of on-time payments will aid their citizenship applications, but critics who favor tougher enforcement of federal immigration rules say it’s absurd for the government to work with people it should be tracking down and deporting. It legitimizes the presence of immigrants who are here illegally, critics say, and sends a mixed message about the country’s interest in enforcing its own rules.

"The word schizophrenic comes to mind," said Marti Dinerstein, president of Immigration Matters, a research firm that advocates tighter immigration enforcement. "There is something fundamentally wrong about this."

The IRS created a nine-digit Individual Tax Identification Number in 1996 for foreigners who don’t have Social Security numbers but need to file taxes in the U.S. But it is increasingly used by undocumented workers to file taxes, apply for credit, get bank accounts or even buy a home.

PLEASE DONT COMMENT ON THESE SERIOUS CREDIBLE FACTS. ONLY TALK ABOUT CAPITAL LETTERS. YOUR ATTITUDE IS JUST WHAT THIS COUNTRY NEEDS. NOT!!!!! :banghead:

To say that what someone posted is not legit because they choose to use capitol letters is as stupid as someone saying that someone can't be believed because they have not attended a get together. :ack:

As for the illegals or non-resident aliens or resident aliens getting refunds. If they paid into the system fine, if not no refund.

My question is this, we can't find illegals to deport them but we can find them to give them a check? Doesn't seem exactly logical to me.

No, but the majority of illegals are believed to be 'resident aliens'.

"The IRS classifies illegal workers in the U.S. for more than 31 days in the current year as "resident aliens." The majority of illegal immigrants in the U.S. are believed to be included as resident aliens under the IRS statutes."

KellBell - how did you verify the ITIN's? This is an honest question, not a sarcastic comment. I work in the banking industry and am trying to find a way to truly verify ITIN's. Everywhere I've looked says that a resource database to check ITIN's against doesn't exist. Any suggestions? Thanks!

ITIN's are handed out like water at a public fountain. Our government has no great concern for fixing the illegal problem but they darn sure aren't going to miss their cut of the money they earn.

In a congressional committee the IRS Commissioner Mark W. Everson had this to say "Our job is to make sure that everyone who earns income within our borders pays the proper amount of taxes, whether that income is legally obtained, and whether the individual is working here legally,".

STOP ITIN's FOR ILLEGALS ... period ... and they won't get illegal tax returns. Nor will they be able to work many of the jobs they are stealing from true Americans. A study of the number of tax returns filed using ITINs in 2000 found that 79% of them generated an average refund of $942. Can you imagine what that number is now?? Through Nov. 3, 2007 the IRS had issued 10.7 million numbers. And in 2005, the most recent year for which figures are available, 1.4 million people filed returns with the numbers.

Here's the trick; You work 3 to 4 months on the books, then the rest of the year off the books, then they file and get a tax credit return. They can also list ITIN's from children that aren't even theirs, for deductions, because there's no way to prove it. The majority, not all, use this every year. So don't anyone tell me they're tax payers, they're tax takers.

The Billion dollar Tax Preparation industry is the #1 fault in the system. These illegals have no idea how to navigate the system for the return. But the tax prep people do and they help them accomplish the task.

The answer is simple: No legal immigration papers ... No Tax Refund !!!

Just FYI, and not commenting on the stimulus package: ITIN's have the same format as SS#s, but they start with a 9. No other SS# starts with a 9. They do not qualify for earned income credit, or for some other credits.

Update: Just came across this on WRAL's website, talking about the Senate proposal:
