Does this happen to anyone else?

I got up this morning and my sternum is so sore that I can hardly move. This has been happening quite a bit here lately and I've been chalking it up to sleeping on my side and kind of crushing my chest. But it hurts so bad today that I'm starting to wonder if I should see a doctor about it. It hurts to inhale and move around very much. It hurts in my sternum and a little to the right of it in my ribs some. OUCH!

DH says it happens to him sometimes so I'm trying not to worry about it. Just wondering if anyone else ever wakes up with this kind of pain. Oh, the joys of getting older... just the act of sleeping causes pain.

Mine will pop and hurts when it's bad weather, but it's because I broke it many moons ago in a bad accident. Talk about pain...oh man!

The only time mine hurts is usually between 3:30am and 4:30 am when one of our cats decides that he just has to be let out, and he either jumps and lands on my chest or other not so fortunate parts of my body (as was the case this morning).

    Go see the doctor.
Could be an assortment of things.
Gallbladder comes to mind, but better to have it checked out.

Go to the dr I had bad pain once hurt to move, breath couldn't get out of bed it hurt so bad. It turned out to be an infection in the muscle surrounding the ribs. Got meds and got better. Good luck

yep, usually if I sleep wrong, then it takes a couple of days to get back to normal, also if I get out from under the covers and get cold, it seems to cause the muscle around that area to feel tight. But you should always call your doc if you are not sure, hope you feel better soon!!

Go to the doctor, heart disease presents itself in different ways with women. If not heart related it could be any number of things.

I've had that before, this doesn't feel quite the same. I think, I'm hoping anyway that I just squish myself while I'm sleeping. Probably because I need to lose about 75 lbs.

They said mine came from an injury. You could get hit and not think twice about it till it hurts. I didn't and everytime I moved I irritated the injury. Mine was caused by the baby, he had kicked me when I was playing with him. Again I hope you feel better. Go to see a dr.

I have a lot of pain from my ribs that hurts in my chest sometimes and sometimes in my back. My chiropractor works wonders with them! I think mine is from sleeping on my side too.

I was having lots of chest pain and found out that I have chronic heartburn. You woulda thought I could tell it was heartburn, huh?

Anyway, it's worth a trip to the doctor, better to be safe than sorry...
