I'm not feeling like it much anymore. I've had to start taking glucosamine & chondroitin for my creaky, cracky, achy knees. What am I going to have to take for my dern sternum & ribs?

Be careful with the rib thing girl, i had pains like that one time for over a month and finally it got so bad i though a rib had punctured my lung and my DH found me passed out in the floor - come to find out i had pneumonia and had just kept going thinking it would go away. Seriously, you need to go have it checked out to be safe.

Could also be inflamed ligaments. Ligaments hold your ribs to your sternum...and in the lower ribs, to each other.

Have you been lifting anything, sort of the way waiters and waitresses carry trays to the side over their shoulder?

Hmm... nope, I don't usually hoist stuff over my shoulder like that.

when was your last full check-up

Ready, when was your last full check-up (other than your OB-GYN)?

Girl, I put mine off too long and I got some serious...and I mean serious, surprises when I finally went last fall.

At our age, we cannot afford NOT to stay on top of our health (even if we are younguns compared to Kaci:lol:)

GO TO THE DOC. you have too many people who can't afford to be without you to put it off...K! If you don't have a regular family Doc, I can share info on mine with you.

Have you just gotten over a cold? My sister had an upper respiratory infection with a cough and ended up with costochondritis. I googled the condition and this is what came up:

Costochondritis is a condition that causes chest pain due to inflammation of the cartilage and bones in the chest wall. Also called Tietze's Syndrome, costochondritis occurs when there is inflammation at the junction of the rib bone and breastbone (sternum). At this junction, there is cartilage joining these bones. This cartilage can become irritated and inflamed. Depending on the extent of the inflammation, costochondritis can be quite painful.

That was kinda my point - yeah i know i call her youngun but i am 48 and the only time i felt that kinda pain was what i described before. If being 40 and if you feel age is getting to you is way too young - better get it checked out.

Don't let that stop you from going - just because it feels better doesn't mean that the problem is better! 8)
