Ready, Cinnamon is beautiful! I bet she will be a really good dog. She certainly is a lucky one. Thanks for posting the pictures.
The pull fee there is $15 and the adoption fee is $27, which includes the age-appropriate shots. No mention of heartworm tests. You have to go to this local vet to get the shots. It is a very small shelter and they appear to have little resources except for the Silvia, the lady who posts the pictures. She was very appreciative and made me blubber like an idiot. They seem to have a caring staff but it really is terrible there.

Okay y'all, what do you think? I posted this http://raleigh.craigslist.org/pet/567590353.html and almost immediately got a reply from a woman named Mary. Here is our conversation so far...

I haven't heard back since asking what area she lives in and it has been 20 minutes or more. What do y'all think of this? I'm so hoping this is her dog, but I'm having a funny feeling about it at the same time. Why hasn't she called? I would have been on the phone in a heartbeat if I thought this was my dog. :?

I would be very careful b/c if it was my dog I would be on the phone in an instant, too.

I don't know, she sent me another email and asked when she could come pick her up, but I'm sorry, I'm not letting a stranger come to my house. That is why I asked, twice now, in what area she lives, so we can meet somewhere. I'm happy to do that for her but I don't trust strangers!

Well, I haven't heard back from her for an hour or so and she hasn't called. Darn. Well, if this is Lucy, then I now know her name and age.

:grouphug: For you! I'd rescue every cat and dog from a shelter, but I'd have to move in with you!
I'll smoke outside if I HAVE 2 :banghead:

Thanks HG. If I had the resources, I'd have about 20 dogs and cats!

Oh, and you're welcomed to move in. The eldest has moved out so there is a spare room now but smoking MUST be done outside. And no butts on my ground! :)

What in the world would all the strays do without you? You are a blessing to the animal world.

Hey y'all, do you have any tips on deodorizing? I have 2 stinky dogs that we want to snuggle with but they smell like poo(and one has already had a bath) from the shelter.

I would worry that her daughter would do the same thing again ... or worse. Ready, you bring tears to my eyes, your devotion to these angels.

YES, go to Petsmart and get this shampoo and conditioner, it is the best!

Thanks! Any word from that woman? I think I would keep Cinnamon and not feel bad about it. She is probably pretty peaceful and happy with you.

She wrote and said she is in E. Raleigh. Still no phone call though. She's probably just as leery of meeting a stranger as I am. :)

You must be a blessing to people as well as animals. I hope everything goes well with that.

OMG, yes this is the best stuff. The conditioner smells so good that I've been tempted, only tempted, to use it myself. I also have the conditioner in a spray bottle, diluted with water to freshen/condition his coats between baths.

We went with a groomer for the initial deodorizing but I will defiinitely pick some up. That is a great idea, INTHEBUFF.
Beauties and Beasts grooming is wonderful, by the way. She is mobile, loves dogs and they can tell, and her prices are great.

Thanks for the info., but one of the two we have is a very small cocker spaniel that fits in my kitchen sink, the other is a bird dog that loves the water and has no problems with the outside hose during the summer months and honestly doesn't stink during the winter because he stays most of the time inside, even when he is outside his time is spent looking up to the sky watching the birds until one of us goes back into the house, he's like a little shadow, follows you around everywhere, he's not interested in being outside unless one of us is with him. This dog is just not normal, he cleans himself like a cat, licks every nook and cranny clean as a whistle, at the same time every evening, just before bed, crazy dog. Our family and friends think we give this dog a bath every week, doesn't get a bath but about 4-5 times a year.
