I've heard it's been going around. What's the expected course? My DS picked it up at school. He stayed home Thursday and thought he'd go back today. But no, I've been up since 4:30 steam cleaning carpet, he didn't make it to the bathroom:ack:. Once he's through with it, how long until the rest of the fam gets it??

    Thanks

I have two friends who had the real flu. One got sick the Thursday before the Superbowl and was just now able to go back to work this past Monday, another was out of work for a week. They both sound horrible still.

Yeah my son has been out of school all week with the flu, now 2 3 days later his best freind and his bf sister has it, not my daughter yet though, keeping him in his room which is where he would rather be right now. It is bad this year from what I hear at the drs office's tried to get him in to a dr but good luck with that.

My son got diagnosed yesterday. The dr. put him on Tamaflu and said he is contagious until he has been fever free for 48hrs...it's not pretty this year.

I was out of work 3 days... but also had a weekend in that time period. Five days total in bed/on the couch for me. The cough still lingers...

My doctor told me that the strain that has hit us all so hard this year was not one that was included in the flu shot prevention this year. (It's always a best guess situation for those creating the vaccine, I believe.)

Double Blech!!!!!! Great...... I know it doesn't guarantee you don't get the flu but I like to think at least it helps some.... Oh I hope it stays out of my house......

Son #3 got his flu shot but came down with the flu that was not covered. It is not the cold-flu it is the puke-flu. BEWARE...it is going around West View. Wednesday night, threw up every 30 minutes until about 4:30 Thursday a.m. By 10:00 am he had a raging fever. That broke during the night last night. He's basically washed out right now. Son #1 came home from work (at West View...also beware...everyone seems to be sick with something different) this morning with a fever of 101. If you saw him yesterday at school you know he was fighting it then. His is severe cold symptoms. He slept for 4 hours, just woke up and looks horrible. He still thinks he's going fishing tomorrow (that's how you are when you're 19). Good luck out there. It's been a rough 2nd half to the week and mama needs a nap!!!!

Mommy3: I belive your son helps teach my sons 2nd grade class. So what you're telling me is that your son probably gave my son the flu?? Well that's just great!! :boxing: (I'm just kidding, obviously!)

I'm just curious, does this happen to be going around in the 2nd grade at West View? I like to be prepared. I just got everyone in my house feeling good again, after strep 3 times and double ear infections, plus tummy troubles and sinus infections (all last month). Please everyone stay away from my family!!!!!!!

Yes, that's my boy. He only has a cold though. I do not think it is the flu. He came home today before school actually started (he does early morning care) when he realized he had a fever....still sleeping.

The one with the flu is in the 4th grade. His teacher said no one else in his class had been sick with this (stomach flu) but it is going around the school.

I have them all safely inside and will keep them here until this passes.

    Good luck everyone.

    I'm ready for spring!!!!

***Son #1 finally got up and is headed to Bojangles (said his stomach is eating itself...claims there is no food in the house). This is a sure sign he feels better.

    Have a great weekend all.

    Home Remedy

If you have the stomach type of flue (puking and diarreah) buy a coconut, drink the coconut milk, then just munch on pieces of coconut. If you don't like coconut it's kind of yucky but it works. I got this from the Graeson's Pharmacy column in the N&O and have put it to the test.

BTW Mommy3, my son loves your son (the teacher). I think it's good for him to have a male role model in school, and he loves fishing, and from what i hear your boy does too!

Fishing, hunting......it's gotta be outdoors or he's like a caged animal.

He LOVES his job. Last year, he did part of his Senior project tutoring/working with the fifth grade at West View. He discovered that he could work there as a TA and still go to school full-time at night and online with JCC. He is doing the 2 + 2 program with JCC and ECU (2 years JCC, 2 years ECU) to be a teacher. His original plan was to teach high school, but he loves his classes and West View and I believe he has decided to teach elementary school. Years ago, Cleveland Elementary had a male teacher (J. had him in the 4th grade). Mr. Collins. He was awesome. You don't see many men willing to teach children. Can you tell I'm proud of him? He's such a good "boy".
