I think I spelt it right...... anyway this is going in up behind the strip mall that will be built at 42/cornwalis Just thought I would let you all know. The rest of the land over there 250+ acres is in negotiation right now All I can say is what a mess 42hwy will become..oh yea thats right it already is a MESS
What strip mall? I know there was one planned a couple of years ago, but it fell through. I'm just wondering why'd they put on there when TJ Maxx is 6-7 miles up the road at White Oak?
Also the landscape place @ Cornwallis / 42 is looking to relocate to another area. 42 is gonna need to be widened to a 4 laner.
I heard that was actually slated for 2009 but got pushed back to something like 2015. Oh and I love me some TJ Max
Ditto that sentiment. Moving it out that far is almost as intelligent as throwing the 70bypass traffic onto I40W without giving it an extra lane all the way to White Oak.
Yes, where the house was torn down. They are putting a small strip mall & the TJ Maxx store will go between the strip & back up to Super Walmart. Walmart is required by DOT to widen the area by Lowes to four lanes for traffic. However, currently DOT/state has "asked" people that live on 42 HWY to sell their land to them to widen the road & people have NOPE TO BAD. They can not make these people do this b/c of a shopping center. Heck they already did it when they came thru with the bypassw. Then like I said the farm fight next to it 250+ acres is in negotiation for sale. The deal will close by the end of this week. When he tells us which deal he agreed to I will let you know if it is slated for commercial / residential. More money with commercial I know
Can't they force them to sell or take their land if it benefits the community and brings in jobs? What was the name of that Act? Can't remember right now. Not saying I agree with it.
Yep yep, I don't agree with using it for commercial purposes though. Hospital, school, I can see, but not a Walmart or something similar.
I believe so. The problem is that even though it's warranted now, the problem was created by developers, and the county let all of it happen. So instead of forcing the developers to pay for the added infastructure, it will now be stolen from property owners.
Straying off the subjest - but a funny story (sorta) about Eminent domain. My dad went thru a period of dementia after surgery a few yrs ago - and he was staying in a rehab center. He kept insisting that he was living at his house and 'they' had come and taken his land (by eminent domain) and built the rehab center.....boy, we had a time with him for awhile! Can look back and laugh now - but at the time he was mad at all of us for letting them take his land - and not getting any money for it!
I can't see the government taking my land for ANY reason, period. I just think that's total BS to start with. Let's say my family has been living on land for 100 years and it used to be all country, then by the commissioners hands it's become overcrowded, etc. and now the gov. wanted to take my family land because they can not plan, that's just BS.
