Read about it and saw his original tape when it was done. One remarkable guy. If we could all have that outlook on life it would be wonderful.

I can't even imagine the strength it took to do that....I can only hope I have even an ounce of that in my entire lifetime.

Yeah, me too. His legacy will forever be remembered and his children will have some tall shoes to fill.

What a wonderful person - I hate that his kids (and of course his wife and family) will not get to spend the rest of their lives learning from him....

Another touching story on a local level.

Duke University junior Josh Sommer, 20, looks at the density of cells through a microscope at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Durham, N.C., Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008. Sommer was diagnosed in January 2006 with chordoma, a rare bone cancer which has no cure and few effective treatments. He has taken the semester off through a fellowship grant to concentrate his time to his chordoma research and the Chordoma Foundation, which he started with his mom to coordinate and speed research efforts. How can we be so advanced and people still have cancer?

I went to Cleveland animal hospital and when Dr Basden came out I was shocked to see she was bald. Ya just don't expect it... I was thinking on my way home from there... I now know seven people off the top of my head that are in remission, are dying or dead from cancer. These are people that I KNOW!

    *sigh*

But she doesn't have cancer, thank goodness - she has a disease thats causes hair loss/baldness.

A friend of the family has a disease like this ... I never realized he wore a wig when I was growing up. It took me about 10 years to realize he didnt have any eyebrows. Thankfully, I asked my Mom instead of blurting out anything childish (as kids are known to do!).

I wonder that very same thing everyday....

Government conspiracy is all I can figure.

But to go out like this guy, that's pretty darn admirable. Because of him I have decided that I don't care if my kids want to grow their hair even longer than it is, it's their hair.:)

Alopecia, it is where your white blood cells "attack" your hair follicles.
