Wish I had a telescope for tonight I have called the Durham Planeterium, but they are doing somethings that makes it unavailable to the public at this time. I had hope to see the eclipse tonight. I know it will be a wonderful sight. I thought of going and buying a telescope for the viewing, but you they do not come cheap, to get anything you can see something with. Maybe we can see something from it if the clouds do not interfer with the eclipse.
We had been told it was LAST night, had the g-kids running outside every 30 minutes until about 10pm. They kept looking at me and saying " I just dont see it". We laughed when we got up this morning and heard it is TONIGHT! lololol, oh well, we got plenty of fresh air last night...... sure hope the clouds don't mess us up tonight.
That applies to a Solar eclipse. And yes, you won't go blind right away - but it could cause damage to your eye, looking directly into the sun at any time.
Thanks... I've always wondered that but never thought to look it up until now. As kid the teachers always said don't look right at an eclipse you'll go blind. So I didn't ask question...too worried I'd go blind. This website explains alot just incase anyone wants to know  http://www.sky-watch.com/skytour/solar.html
Maybe someone in your neighborhood has a telescope and ya'll can have a little git together? That would be fun.
We got a telescope, pretty cheap - unless DH gets emphysema, or lung cancer, or.... DH got it with Marlboro Miles before we met.
Isn't tonight the night that America's satellite will be shot down? Don't know if I want to be in the driveway looking at the Eclipse when I get hit by a satellite...............lol. Grace
Really, is that weather stopping it from hitting Earth? Having fun before I head out and have the whole gang at the house tonight. Grace
