Save your money! It is probably like the others said, the same "flu-type" virus that tests negative. We went through a whole bottle of Tylenol plus cold to keep the cough and fever at a minimum and DS laid on the couch for several days, drinking Ginger Ale. My DS eats like a horse and did not eat for 3 days but as long as they drink, they are OK. Still scary though! We know of several kids out with the same thing right now.

My daughter had some symptons similar to this a few weeks ago and we had to pick her up from school. She got worse and was in bed all weekend, but come Monday she was fine. Last Friday she was complaining of a headache while we were at the movies. Sat morning she got up and was sick again, only worse. Ended up taking her to the drs and they believe the first time it was probably viril but she has a bronchial infection and is on antibiotics. She was in bed all day Sat thru Tuesday, when her temp finially broke. Her temp ranged from 99 to 102 off and on. I would keep an eye on things just in case.

My son had the same symptoms (minus the fever). He woke up last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday complaining that his stomach hurt and by 9:00 he was fine. Saturday morning he woke up at 3:44am, vomitted every 30 minutes until 9:45 and then had mild diarreah. After that he was fine. The part that I found "odd" was that he wasn't feeling well in the morning but by 9:00 he would be fine. didn't keep him home from school because he never had a fever!

I got the call yesterday at noon...DS was sick. I have a hard time figuring out if he's faking or telling the truth sometimes (guess it's deja-vu all over again from my own youth!)

Anyhow, took him to the doc this am, and it was strep.

He will be out for 2 more days until he is no longer contagious.

There's lots of nasty stuff going around from what I hear. I recently stocked up on 2 big bottles of Pedialyte(works like magic every time to rehydrate), crackers, applesauce, tissues, etc. I never give my kids fever reducing meds until their fever is 101 or greater. The fever is your body fighting the infection. Also, you can give motrin and tylenol at the same time. They ahve different metabolic pathways. If they are running a high fever, this is the best way to go. We also disinfect the entire home and open up windows when one is sick to try to "contain" it. One of our son's tested positive for flu in December. We did the whole routine open windows(& no I dont' care how cold it is out!--LOL) and disinfect. No one else got it knock on wood. Now, if spring would just hurry up and we could all get back to normal. In the meantime, I want to say everyone get well soon.

    Take care,

Flu is rampant right now....get to dr. and get Tamiflu to knock it out fast.

If I thought he had the flu, I certainly would take him, but he really isn't that sick. He hasn't thrown up since Tues morning, and I kept him home that day too. (I've had the flu, it's awful) I kept him home this morning because of the fever, but once the advil kicked in last night, he was just fine. I believe he's just got a little bug, of course, if he takes a turn for the worse, I will be first in line at the ped.

Spent all afternoon at the ER yesterday for dehydration. Same type of symptoms.
Ends up DS has a virus and constipation. What a miserable time. He had the 102 fever since Sunday, so I took him in yesterday, just to have the doctor make sure it wasn't the flu. She sent us off to the hospital for fluids. Keep an eye on their fluids. Don't worry about eating, that will come back soon.

    Fluids are very important.

    Rule # 23 of parenting....

Kids will eat when they're hungry. Unless advised to do so by a health care professional, do not attempt to force feed your children!

Hope everyone's babies are better soon!

He appears to be just fine today, no headache, no fever, no yakking, eating & drinking fine, just a little cough left. Unless something changes tonight, he's off to school tomorrow, and I will cross my fingers!

Thanks for all the advice guys, I really appreciate it, and for everyone else with sick kids, hope they feel better soon!
