We already have Target and Walmart. We definely need Barnes & Noble, Red Lobster, Panera Breads, and more like that! Come on!
Yes! Panera, Quiznos, Starbucks, and a Red Robin, with a Borders/B&E as the anchor. Plox. add a best buy, and i think i'll just build a house in the parking lot. =x
you know you can't get a barnes and noble here due to the average income within a couple of miles of white oak and other shopping areas, right? probably the same thing for borders...
All you people who are opposed to Wal-Mart coming are a bunch of idiots. The people who run businesses up at 40/42 can't wait for Wal-Mart to get there to generate more foot traffic. After talking with a whole lot of business owners, they desperately need more people traffic walking in the stores.....(Just Tires, Karate Place, Several In Ashley Turner Plaza etc). And most of all, Wal Mart attracts more nicer eating places.....not just the same old junk food places. Lay off Walmart!
All for growth but hopefully the powers that be plan on widening 42 from Clayton to 40/42. With the new bypass exit on 42 and a Walmart. Traffic will be interesting to say the least. He called you all "idiots"...
Wal Mart Someone said on here that the local businesses wanted Wal Mart for more foot traffic. I agree that Wal Mart would create the traffic, however don't forget Wal Mart forces wages lower. The also wipe out the little guy in the business world. Target is no better, they are a French company, and don't forget the french have a tendency to trash America. It is my opinion that Johnston County needs to assist these business, but they should not let Wal Mart come here. Adbertising will get me to the area, not Wal Mart. The new hosepital may get me there, but not Wal Mart.
I hate to dash your trashing of the French and of Target. But Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT), originally known as the Dayton Dry Goods Co., is an American retailing company that was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1902 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Target_Corporation Also I know several of the small business owners in the area and a couple of them are actually looking forward to Wal-mart coming. But I think it wouldn't matter if it was a Wal-mart or a Target that came to the area, just so it would help boost the ecomony. Or if you haven't heard we in/on the border of a recession
I stand corrected. I was incorrect about Target, however I stand by what I said about Wal Mart. You seem very defensive, guess I touched a nerve. I still feel Wal Mart is bad for the area. If they open you will see many of the small guys close down. PS - Wikipedia is not always the best source. I learned that in College.
this one number two on your list, or are you just on some rampant campaign for turn lanes across america or something?
Say What????!!!!!???? I, for one, DO NOT THINK WalMart is going to generate more foot traffic. I know of no one that walks FROM WalMart TO anywhere. As for nicer places to eat? All I ever see in Walmart shopping centers are Sandwich shops , Pizza places and take-out Chinese food. I personally don't consider any of these "more nicer". You started off calling a lot of folks (who are entitled to their opinions) "idiots". Me thinks it is the classic case of the Pot calling the Kettle "Black"!
I'd guess its a mixed bag when it comes to small businesses. service based businesses would love the extra traffic, and see it as a boon. where as sales based businesses would be jeopardized by walmarts insane ability to destroy local competitors through whatever means necessary. @wordman: As to the "more nicer" restaurants coming in, i have NEVER seen walmart bring in upscale restaurants. could you provide any examples? Honestly, I've stretched my mind and can't come up with any in the area. welcome to the 2 new posters, especially wordman as i look forward to flaming you in the future.
Just tuned in to see if the newbies had any more comments. If they plan to post on here, I hope they will learn to be "more nicer"!
