For those of you who have had both. What are the pros and cons of buying a sectional vs. a traditional living room set? We just got in our new house and are considering a sectional. I am just not sure if we will be happy with it long term. What are your thoughts?????
I've had both, currently have a sectional and love it. We have 3 young boys, and we all like to get up on it together and "cuddle". I would say if you're the type of family (if you even have kids?) that is close, the sectional is good. If you all like to have your own space, then I'd go with the separate pieces. It kind of depends on the room you're putting it in too. We have a big, square room that a sectional works well in. Another thing, sometime you can buy a sectional that can actually be separated into separate pieces as well, my stepmom did that, so it could be used either way. One thing I don't like about the sectional, is it's very heavy if you want to move it, like to clean under it. Good luck with your furniture shopping...wish I could go furniture shopping!
Your room will be a big factor, sectionals really limit your choice of furniture arrangement. IF you like to move furniture around occasionally, go with traditional.
I agree. We had a great L shaped sectional, one side had a hide away bed and the other had two lazy-boys... so it was heavy!!! It really limited how creative we could get with moving the furniture around. But we liked it. This time around we bought traditional love seat and sofa...
I have had both and I prefer seperate peices, non matching, that accent each other....I like to rearrange alot....to keep things fresh and different. Sectionals while comfortable, gives you zero options.
