What family doctor would you recommend? I haven't found a new doctor since we moved, and need to. Smithfield, Kenly or east Clayton area preferred. Thanks!

I go to Horizon Family Medical on Butternut Drive in Clayton. I think they also have a place in Smithfield. They seem to do a pretty good business for both adults and children.

EDIT: Stay away from Clayton Family Practice. You are better off going to a mechanic.

I go to Dr. Davis at Horizon in Smithfield. I've tried a few others in the area but Dr. Davis is the only one who I felt actually listened to me and didn't just try to throw pills at my problems.

Dr Meehan at Clayton Medical Associates. I wouldn't take my dog to Dr Davis at Horizon or any of the other doctors in that office.

You know that just reminded me of that movie, Moving Violations. Remember the chic with the oil... and then she gets on the lift? O.M.G.

I used to go there to see Dr. Bookert, she has more days off than any drs office I have ever been to, for one. For two, sitting in her waiting room is like sitting in a slam packed welfare office. Let me start by saying I'm not prejudiced, but, all the hispanics and their snotty little kids running around touching everything and the parents paying no attention to them, it was horrible. If I ever got to see Dr. Bookert, it was for having an appt 3 months in advance. Otherwise it was ALWAYS the family nurse practitioner. They always seemed overbooked and even with an appt, always had to wait atleast an hour, between the waiting room and then in an examining room. They said they took walk-ins, but that was some screwed up idea of theirs as well. They scheduled their walk-ins for so-many per hour, it was wierd. I left there when I couldn't take it any more, I go to Clayton Medical Center and see Dr. Joan Meehan, she is great and her office is much more professional and very well scheduled, I wouldn't go anywhere else now.

    thanks for recommendations!

Thanks for all of your recommendations and comments. I have a new patient appointment on June 6th (earliest they had) with the nurse practitioner at Dr. Meehan's office, Clayton Medical Associates. So glad that I have made a decision! Now if I could just find the best pediatric orthodontist I'd be good to go. Already posted that question! :?

Why even make an appointment if you have to wait? I must be the only one that'll walk out at 10:05 if I had a 10:00 appointment...
