Wow! There's an old Pythian Home around here? There was one just down the street from where I grew up, in NH! That brings back memories!

(The landmark I think of at that intersection is the BP station - how boring!)

Note that no locals remember it...

The stone fence is about the only thing left of the Pythian Home. I think some of it burned back in the 1970's. But this was after it had closed.

Grand Street is awesome. I'm sitting here eating a slice of their stuffed pizza for lunch. A slice of stuffed pizza and drink was $5.00. Actually, their slices are huge, so you almost get two 'regular' slices in one.

Everyone was very nice and even told me they appreciated me coming in.

    Try it!

    Loved it!!

So I finally got a chance to go to the new pizza place across from D.R. Wells and I loved it!! We have a big family(4kids) so it's sometimes hard to please everyone, but the kids were able to have pizza (by the slice) while Mom and Dad had Lasagna and Salad. All the staff seemed to be friendly they even greeted us as we walked in. We will be returning for sure! I would also like to try out the Delivery service. Oh, yeah I also wanted to mention how cool the kids thought it was to watch the guys toss the dough up in the air.

If anyone has had delivery from grand street let me know how it was.

The food was good but they were too slow, that was a major turn off for me. I loved the thought of getting a good burger, hotdog and a tea for lunch but to get that you would have to wait 20 mins to get a burger and hotdog. Crazy Slow. Hate to see them go out of business though

Have either of those places done much advetising? I only knew they were there from driving by. Perhaps they need to do some marketing to draw people in, to include family deal nights ...since there are SO many people with children in the area. I'd be more likely to try them if they offered a kid's meal free night or something like that.

I never had Taters, but the pizza place was good. We're planning on getting pizza there Sunday, so hope they stay open!

I heard last month Taters was closing. I tried it once, nothing special. Eggs on a styrofoam plate just doesn't do it for me.

Dang I thought Taters had just opened recently. I didn't realize they had been around for months!!! We were looking forward to trying them out! We tried out Grandstand last week. LOVED the thin crust pizza!! The Sun-Wed Special for the 18" cheese is pretty good. You can't beat 10 bucks.

  18. That stinks that Taters is closing already. I only got to go there once. Just had some toast and home fries but the people were very friendly there. I want to order something from Grand Street Pizza. I was hoping to go to a web page and see a menu so i could order it and then pick it up to go. But I keep getting hits for a Grand Street Pizza in Knightdale. Are they owned by the same people? Or does the one near us have their own web page?

I stopped by Grand Street for lunch today. Obviously there is one employee that doesn't feel washing her hands is necessary. She drove up, walked in and went to handling food. I about died when she was talking to a customer and then started scraping ear wax out of her ear, then she went back to making their lunch.

Should they change their name to "Sweet Taters"? :jester:
