I am reading No More Mondays by Dan Miller. He talks about stretching your thinking ... thinking outside the box when presented with a situation. Most people think in predictable ways because we limit ourselves by our past expereinces.

Try these mind teasers from the book. Please don't answer if you've read the book. I'll post two additional ones as I have time.

#1 While browsing around on ebay you see a model car in a glass display case on sale for $200. The car is valued at $190 more than the case. How much is the case worth?

#2 There are six marbles in a basket. Six children each take one marble. But there is still one marble left in the basket. How can that be?

    Hmmm...my guesses.

#1. It isn't worth anything until someone wants to buys it.

#2. Two of the six children are fighting over 1 marble!!!!! (Well at least that is what my boys would do )

Fair Market value says the case is worth $200.

    Started with 7 marbles.

    The case is worth $5. 5 + 190 = 195 for the car; total 200.

The marbles, I'm still thinking about.

  8.
where is the 5.00 to take it from 195.00 to 200.00? or is that the profit?

No, the car is worth 190 more than the case, and together it's worth 200. Your first thought would be that the case must be worth 10, but no, then you have to add 190 to that for the value of the car, and that would make the total 210.

If the case is worth 5, and the car is worth 190 more than that, the car is worth 195, so the car and case together are 195 + 5 = 200.

The value of the case is x
The value of the car is 190 + x
    x + 190 + x = 200
    190 + 2x = 200
    x = 5

The display may not come with the car...or the case is in such bad shape it's worth nothing.

    Here is #3

You are driving in your Porsche on a stormy night when you pass a bus stop and see three people waiting (1) an old lady who obviously needs help immediately, (2) an old college friend to whom you owe a big favor, (3) the perfect partner you've been dreaming about. Knowing there's room for only one passenger in your car, whom would you choose for the absolute best results?

That sounds perfect to me  (except for the man of my dreams....) oh wait...no thats hubby

  19. 1st you take the old lady she needs the help immediately, your buddy and your perfect partner will both understand.

2nd you come back and pick up your perfect partner and bring them back to your place to take a warm shower and freshen up, your college buddy will understand.

3rd you come back for your college buddy and bring them back to your place. By now your perfect partner is done with their shower, Now since you owe your buddy a big favor you all hop in bed for a three way :jester:

Hopefully your perfect partner is of the opposite sex
