Lets guess at this for thsoe who say gas has doubled. 2008 3.20/gal $67,500 .0047 nearly the same as 1960. I would want to check on the avg salary, that seems high.
Ok, so how about this... Year Gas/gal Avg Income Percentage 1920 .30/gal $1,130 .0265% 1930 .25/gal $1,612 .0155% 1940 .18/gal $1,906 .0094% 1950 .27/gal $3,815 .0070% 1960 .31/gal $6,227 .0049% 1970 .36/gal $11,106 .0032% 1980 1.22/gal $23,974 .0050% 1990 1.22/gal $42,652 .0028% 2000 1.57/gal $65,500 .0023% 2008 3.14/gal $65,500 .0046% It's still about the same price (relatively speaking) as it was in 1960.
i do not understand how 2 areas less than 20 miles apart can have gas prices close to and sometimes at 20cents apart Where i work i can always get gas at the minimum 10cents cheaper than at 4042. Yesterday i saw a couple of places up here at $3.14 and the highest i saw was $3.17
I know! I only buy gas at 40/42 when its an emergency. White Oak is on my way home, so I always stop at BJ's to fill up.
DH is buying BIL's Yamaha VStar 1100 this weekend. BIL is getting better mileage out of his Prius. I'm having a hard time justifying another car payment when the one I am driving is paid off too, I can buy a lot of gas for what a newer car would cost me. I guess I am going to keep driving it till something major breaks.
They do still make the hybrid, but have you seen how much those things cost? its crazy.... My sign. other has a mustang he drives back and forth to work, and we have 2 gas guzzling extended cab trucks, and they drink some serious gas monies. refresh me, who is Prius made by?
Yep...land of the plastic people. Just call me the intruder for now. I'm trying to get to know people and stuff before we make our move. Our goal is to move to the Clayton area this summer.
LOL! Why are you 'land of the plastic people'? Welcome! Hope things work out for your move, Clayton/this is a nice area.
The area I'm in is very superficial. I guess the only place in your neck of the woods that I can compare it to would be Cary. We'd be Cary on steroids.
Doesn't Boca have the highest per capita income next to Hollywood in the country? I really did feel like a fish out of water down there. 8)
I'm assuming you mean Hollywood, CA. We have a Hollywood, FL but there are only a couple of neighborhoods there that are nice. I don't think we're the highest, but it's close. Now if you factor in my entire county, then yeah we're near the top. We have Jupiter Island...VERY wealthy area. A fish out of water...yep, that would definitely describe me. And I can't wait to leave.
Yep, CA. I think I actually heard it was Beverly Hills, maybe. Anyway, crazy rich people down there! We were driving a Mazda Pick-up. Embarrassing!:lol::lol:
