We have been there too and love it. We are trying to get past the drive. It really is only 35 minute from here though. I would recommend it highly to anyone. Would the second campus be in this area or still in Raleigh. Pastor Jimmy is awesome and the best speaker I have seen.
We attend New Life Wesleyan. (Wesleyans are between Baptist and Methodist) On hwy 50, just past Ken's Produce. SS at 9:30, church at 10:30, Youth Sun nights at 6 and Pioneer Club for ages 2+. Contempory - come as you are - and compfy!
John Wesley was the founder of the Methodist Church. Baptists were founded by either John Clarke or Roger Williams. (Both started churches that claim to be the first). Wesleyans might be described as strict Methodists but most often still practice infant baptism (sprinkling)while Baptists don't hold with that at all(they immerse and you have to be old enough to consent). Wesleyans aren't a blend of both (there's no organizational/denominational overlap) but both denominations do believe that salvation comes through belief in the death and resurrection of Jesus. (Same beliefs, different expressions of it). Find a church that challenges you and helps you to grow spiritually, and one where you can serve as well as be served. There's no such thing as a perfect church...(if there were, none of us could be part of it!)
I was just making a comparison that Wesleyans are not as strict as Baptist, but stricter than Methodist. Not that it was a blend. Wesleyans do not believe in infant baptism, infants can be dedicated. Baptism occurs when the person is at an age that he/she can make that decision.
Actually we just found out this week that after all of the research and studies that the second campus will be meeting at the Raleigh Grand Theatre at 70 & Lynn Road. Pastor Jimmy's thought is not for one big mega church, but planting smaller community or neightborhood church's to accomadate growing communities.
I've heard really great things about the Church @ Clayton Crossings and Crossroads Church off Guy Rd. If you are on the Flowers Plantation (Archer Lodge) side of town it's about a 15 minute drive to Calvary Faith Center. We are a new church affiliated with the Assemblies of God. We actual merged two churches together last June and have been growing ever since. In fact we have added about 40 people in the last two months. We recently started new children, youth and men and ladies ministries and our people are loving it. We run about 80-90 people on average during our 10:30AM Sunday Celebration. Small enough to feel like family and large enough to make an impact. We have a full band and we sing mostly contemporary songs but try to mix it up with some older hymns with a contemporary twist. Our messages are simple and life-applicable. Go to www.glenkeefer.org to listen to a message. We are having an outdoor Luau on May 3rd (May 4th rain date) @ 4:30PM and all are welcomed! Food, fun and rides for the kids. For more info on the church and it's ministries visit www.calvaryfaith.com Pastor G
I went to church with my daughter this past Sunday and the Church at Clayton Crossing is having an information meeting on Sunday April 13th at 6:30 pm and child care is provided. They also have a web site: www.claytoncrossings.com I do know they have things for kids and in fact my daughter is going to Camp Caswell this summer. They are helping with the finances so she can go. Everyone there seems very friendly.
