i can't wait to see the offspring of the myspace/youtube generation.

edit: o****. they're going to be around my potential offspring... Anybody know how to build a stupid-shield?

Also, its very common to blame the technology. how many school shootings have resulted in weeks and weeks of talk about Quake and Doom?

No kidding. What in the hell made these girls think this was the thing to do? I know kids do stupid stuff...but what has been planted in these kid's heads to make WANT to do something so pointless and violent?

Something is going into our children's heads that is telling them that violence is okay, and that it's warranted and justified if someone "disrespects" you. Where is this coming from?

Part, I believe, comes from children being desensitized to violence as a result of videos, video games, movies, etc.

I also blame parents and public schools. Everyone is allowing kids to have control over the adults, because parents want to be "friends" with their kids, and school staff doesn't want to be sued by those "friendly" parents.

What is shameful is that public schools all over the nation have portrayed themselves as adequately addressing violence amongst school kids because they have an alert system set up for a "Columbine" type situation. Problem is, those situations are rare. A tragedy...but rare.

What they need to be focusing most on is the mob mentality violence that has permeated children's lives. Kids beating up kids because they looked at them wrong, bullying, taunting, etc. There is everyday violence going on between these kids that needs to be addressed. But it's being ignored so that time can be spent on preventing the 1-in-a-million chance of a Columbine type school shooting.

    You fail at rickroll protocol.

When rickrolled, you are supposed to thank the person and play along to try to rick roll other people.

I particulary enjoyed the following quotes from the article:

"I'm very upset with these Internet sites," he said. "As far as I'm concerned, MySpace is the anti-Christ for children. I'm going to carry this as far as I can.”

Her parents blamed the Internet for the incident.

    Blame, blame, blame....

I heard that on the news the other night. The girls Mom said the victim posted some stuff on Myspace about some of the girls that attacked her.

When I saw this on Nancy Grace the other night, it about made me sick to my stomach. I actually made my two girls come in the LR and sit down and watch it with me and then we talked about it. I told them if they are ever in any situation when they see something like this happens to call 911. They were in shock that stuff like this happens.

These girls need to be punished to the extent of the law. They had a bunch of cameras set up and two boys were outside the house "guarding" it. I feel everyone involved should be punished. I can't believe these parents blames the internet, etc. or can even make an excuse for their behavior. I can tell you it's just UFB the way the parents are defending their kids....

Oh but if they have to go to Juvi...they might miss cheerleading practice and can't go to the beach. Seems like thats all they were worried about. The sheriff said that he wanted them tried as adults..period. hope he gets it accomplished.

I agree totally. I actually told my girls if they EVER did anything like this they would be sent to a Military School, etc. that ANY behavior like this period would not be tolerated in my home. I did tell them, as I always have they DO have a right to defend themselves, but NEVER have a right to be malicious verbally or physically to anyone.

That's what I have told my son as well. You get into breaking the law and being a menace to society, and you will learn that having a home and a family is a privilege not a right. I will send you to Military school or sign you over to the state, lol. You make adult decisions, you will get adult consequences. I have two other younger children to worry about, I have no problem sacrificing one to save the others.

    :iagree:
I have forms filled out and a picture printed (from their websites) of two Military Acadamy's posted on the side of the refrigerator. My boys know that they are just a postage stamp away of being enrolled/mailed. Zero tolerance on the BS of making bad decisions and disrespect on any level. period.

Completely agree. Although I have no kids of my own, I have seen some in my own family make what I consider to be this mistake. They should have kicked the older one out on his behind a long time ago!
