latest addition to wral's story... The dark-colored SUV is missing a passenger side mirror, troopers said. Anyone who sees a vehicle matching this description, possibly around the Cleveland or Clayton area, is asked to dial *HP from a cell phone.
Yes indeed, this little one will need everyone's prayers. Pneumonia can be just one related complication to broken ribs.
another wral update.... The SUV – authorities said it could also be a larger truck – is missing a passenger-side mirror, troopers said. A 13-year-old girl suffered a broken leg and jaw in a hit-and-run Thursday morning as she was crossing the road to get on a school bus, state troopers said. Authorities are also searching for the driver of a dark-colored sport utility vehicle who struck her and kept going. The girl, Maria Ann Taylor, was taken to WakeMed, where she had to undergo surgery, troopers said. Her injures were not life-threatening. Investigators said it was dark and foggy at the intersection of Lassiter Farms Lane and McLemore Road, where the crash happened but that the school bus had come to a complete stop and that all lights on the bus were on. The SUV – authorities said it could also be a larger truck – is missing a passenger-side mirror, troopers said. A further description wasn't available, but the North Carolina Highway Patrol urges anyone who sees a vehicle matching the description, possibly around the Cleveland or Clayton area, to call authorities or dial *HP from a cell phone.
Why couldn't this happen to one of the little thugs around here? Maria is a great girl with a bright future - a very kind, caring individual with more compassion in her little finger than the "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPS" that ran her down this morning.
I can tell ya, whomever it was, is a sorry tailed individual...and I, for one, will be looking at every single dark colored SUV/truck until they are caught. I also know 2 guys that own repair shops that do body work, gonna make sure they know the dealio too.....
Hey Cleo, I take it you know this little girl and her family? Let me know of anything they may need if you will I would love to help them out if I have something to offer.
Funny NCMOM. No, I drive a mom mobile. A silver one at that, and it has all of its mirrors. I have been trying all day to think back to the moment when I passed the intersection. I'm trying to remember if I notice a dark vehicle behind me. But, it was pitch black outside, and foggy. It was foggier on McLemore than at my house, off of West Watson. I did look in my rear view to make sure the vehicle that was behind me stopped when the bus stopped. I didn't see the buses stop sign come out when the next wehicle was spassing it, but again, dark and foggy.
I only know of the girl through my son, they were an "item" a few months ago. From what I saw she is really a sweet girl, she made him a 3D paper upright bass for Christmas and strung it with her own hair - how ingenious! When he got in trouble one day at school, she wrote him a bunch of Bible verses about love and forgiveness, now granted I had to explain it to him - but I thought at the time that it was really cool how a young girl like that could talk the talk and walk the walk. Did I also mention she was a Student Ambassador a few years ago? I never met her, but I certainly thought alot of her when they were "dating" (you know - IMs and phone calls). I think JustAnotherMom knows them personally.
awww...young love, how is your son doing with this? Is he mentally OK, its got to be tough on alot of folks, again Thank GOD!!! This could have been so much worse!!
Well, he is at school, and thankfully I drove him this morning or else he would have seen it firsthand. They are no longer an "item", just friends as far as I know. I will be picking him up later this afternoon.
I don't think it will take too long to catch this person. Lot of people are now on the lookout! He/she better watch it!
Yeah, I agree....I don't think it will be too long. Everyone will be looking for a SUV missing a mirror now. I feel bad for those people that just happen to be missing a side mirror, and have a dark SUV. You know there will be some of those. I will just be praying for that girl. She will need all the prayer she can get to recover. I feel horrible for her parents too...I can't imagine how they must feel. There was a car parked at the bus stop while the kids were waiting. I'm not sure if they saw anything, but I'm sure they were already asked. It's amazing how your mind just starts spinning, trying to remember details.
Poor little thing. I'm glad it wasn't any worse than it is, sounds like she'll be ok, just a lot of healing. It is a terrible thing to happen, but at least if the person had stopped it would have just been an "accident" and not a "crime". Terrible! I hope someone finds the person soon! On a side note: Bandmom, I passed a man on a motorcycle this morning around 8, and I remember thinking, who would be crazy enough to ride a bike on this foggy morning?! Wonder if it was him!
there were lots of motorcycles on 40 heading into Raleigh....but it wasn't too foggy on the interstate....
Would those of you that know her please let me know if there is anything I can do as well. I'm willing to help out in any way. I'm glad she will be ok, but it's gonna be a long road for her.
HOW ABOUT YOU WOULD PREFER IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AT ALL INSTEAD OF WISHING IT ON SOMEONE ELSE'S KID WHO YOU MAY JUDGE TO BE A THUG? IS THAT WHAT THE HECK YOU ARE SAYING?
