I have a Sony Handycam "camcorder" that the LCD touchscreen is cracked (and therefore the touchscreen doesn't work). Short of calling Sony's 800 number, does anyone know of a local Sony repair shop?

    Thanks,
    Jason

I had a problem with the LCD display on my JVC handycam about a month ago. I could not find a repairman in Johnston County - I had to take it to All Electronics on Six Forks in Raleigh. But they did a great job, and I had it back within the week. They charged me a $45 diagnostic fee up front, but then took it out of the final price they charged me for putting on the new part. Nice people too. Their number is 866-1977. I wish there was somewhere closer, but I was happy in the end.

How old is the unit? I have a Canon Optura that I had fixed once under warranty. Then, when it came out of warranty, it had another issue. I called the factory and they fixed it for less than half of what they normally would have charged out of warranty. They even shipped me a box to send the unit to them. I know it's two different companies, but it never hurts to ask for a better price.

That place in Raleigh sounds reasonable - I'll have to check them out too.
