GRRRRRR, I hate them!!!! I came home yesterday to find that my better half had let them in the house and they were demonstrating there machine. Their tactics for entering were very bold as I am told that they hand a bottle of soap to you for "free" and just push the front door open and come on in. They just better be glad they didn't do that with me opening the door, my better half is just too nice! Anyway, they were absolutely relentless in trying to sell this thing and did not understand the meaning of NO! When they finally got the picture that I wasn't buying they started insulting me! They are driving around in a Black Ford van if you see them. If they come up to your door just slam the door in their face, don't worry about being rude, you'll be glad you did!

I met him in he driveway with a very serious German Shephend. Woof was not happy with the hand soap, the van or the salesman in his Gettho Fab RED suit. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
    This was Monday.

Came to my house last week... middle of the day while home alone with my children. Two men and two woman were in the van. They scoped the street and only went to homes where they could see cars in the driveway. Woman came to the door with bottle of glass cleaner. I would not have answered the door except when you come on our front porch you can see in the window that we are home (I did not see them in time to close the curtains ...lol). I knew what they were selling so opened the door and before she could speak said not interested. As I shut the door she did get right up to it saying how I did not even know what she was selling. I did feel rude but it did not stop me from shutting the door in her face. I knew if I engaged in any conversation she would go on and perhaps get ugly when I refused to invite them in.

In hindsight I was thinking I should have just said we don't have any carpets as I shut the door. :)

Like that tactic would get someone to change their mind? :)

Thankfully, Percy detests strangers and the rest pack up with him when unexpected guests arrive. Oddly, rather than going on full alert when someone pulls into the driveway, they've let a number of salespeople actually step up onto the porch and then they hit that glass door with teeth showing and making enough nasty noises actually back people down the 6 brick steps faster than they thought they were capable of moving

The one that took the cake was someone with a vanfull of people waiting for him holding a bottle of Palmolive dish detergent - he got to the bottom of the steps and sort of froze. I was about to open the door and slide out to ask him to move along down the road and he begged me "Please lady, don't open that door!":lol::lol:

I always thank the mutts and give them their favorite goodie once the salespeople leave. . .I have such a hard time saying no sometimes, they are aways right there to rescue me.

I always have my front window blinds closed so no one can peek in (when I am alone) and I just posted a sign on my screen door so we will see if they try knocking on my door :)

That tactic probably wouldn't have worked because then they'd show you how well the thing works on a straight floor.

I had one at one point in time. The salesman came by when my ex-h was home alone. Ex was a gadget boy (still is) so he was sold on it. I tried squashing the idea but nobody listened to me. So I eventually thought the words "credit builder" every time I wrote out the check for the payment.

    Not doing that EVER again.

I bought a kirby 5 years ago and still works great. Got a free shampooer. All the bells and whistles. I love it.

We have one too, probably about 10yrs old now. They got to my DH while I wasn't home one day - he thought it was great!! I think it does a good job - never had any problems with it, had it serviced maybe 2 times since we've had it. I just don't like that its so heavy - have run over my toes more than once ...ouch!! BUT I don't like the salesmen coming around in my neighborhood - but at least I can truthfully say "I already have one'....goodbye!

I would think that a door-to-door salesmen/women job would be a tough gig this day and time....when I want something, I go out (or go online) and get it.

I have had them knock on my door and they Pests but I haven't had any of them insult me YET. If they are in the area I hope I get the same rude one you got, I really need to take some anger out on someone today! LOL

They came to my house in Clayton Pointe...twice. My trick is to take the 'free' paper towel, and close the door- quickly. Apparently they aren't smart enough to bring extras? They knocked on my door for 15 minutes trying to get their paper towel back while I watched TV in plain sight. Finally, I got up, opened the door and asked what part of the "No Soliciting" sign they had trouble with (there's a sign at the top of our development thanks to a generous neighbor). I asked for the name of the company they work for and called their boss right then and there to complain - WITH the salesperson in front of me. (still in possession of the paper towel of course) The sales person MUST give you that information - company name and number. They don't work for Kirby...they work for a door-to-door company.

I told them and their boss if they ever came back, the Clayton Pointe HOA would file a lawsuit against them and that I was keeping their damn paper towel.

    Problem solved.

We have a sign, also. They CANNOT knock on your door if you have a No Solicitors sign. My hubby got it when I was staying at home with our baby daughter because he didn't (and still doesn't) like it when strangers would come to the door.

I have actually stood at the window and watched people walk up, read the sign, and then turn around and leave....too funny! :)

Yeah, I believe the guys name was Curtis and I am not sure of the name of the female that barged her way in. They had a young Pregnant girl with them who said it was her first day, when the guy was demonstrating the shampoo part of the machine in my son's room I told her to run far far away from this job and she said that she already hated it and wasn't returning tomorrow. I asked the guy how long he had worked with kirby and he said he had been with them 6 months and sold over 50 of them! lol. He also stated that they were just getting started for the day and I was his first house, shortly after he went out of site the pregnant female told me that he was lying and that they had been out since 9am that morning and she hadn't even been given a chance to eat anything all day!

We just let the dogs out. They are very sweet but bark at anyone who comes up the driveway. Most stranger don't know we have an electric fence so they don't bother to go any further. I've watched one person trying to figure out how to get to the front door, he tried for about 10 -15 minutes before he gave up.

Another time they came we were in the backyard with the dogs and they came by. One of them was on the front porch when the dogs came up, they couldn't get away fast enough.
