Actually I have always wanted one of those, but the wife firmly draws the line at us on owning snakes and lizards as pets. Craig
Recluse OK - first, don't panic. Recluse spiders will stay (normally) only in quiet dark areas. The best defense is to turn a light on in your barn/garage/attic/crawl space/etc. 30 minutes before you enter. Secondly, don't go into those places without gloves and shoes. Second, step on the thing. Third, I suggest Melvin's Termite & Pest.
Just gotta make sure you keep them well fed....very well fed. I've seen a few for sale at the exotic shows at the fair grounds and they are usually inexpensive compared to many of the other slightly more exotic tarantulas. And every time I see one I have to pick it up and twis it around to eye it carefully, and always have to show the wife. Craig
I think she would do better with the spider than with the giant hissing cockroaches you can find at the exotic shows. Craig
I know I still have a quarter size scar from the one I got last fall around Sept. It's very painful..took awhile to get over that one. Sheri
I had the red streaks too, and this what scared me the most I was like oh oh, infection! I sit on my front steps to smoke and most likely that is where I got bit at. Sheri
you got bit too? I am pretty sure I got bit outside too. I used to smoke and was outside on the deck. I woke up scratching, it was on the inside of my thigh, about 5 inches above my knee. I cut on the light to look at what I was scratching and it was nothing, little red mark, went on back to sleep.....boy was I in for a rude awakening....my scar or indentation is about the size of a dime.
no no no no no! NO cockroaches, NO giant beetles, NO spiders and NO giant millipedes!! :ack: You should just be thankful I'm ok with snakes and lizards!
Yep and there is a thread on here somewhere about it lol, I itched too, and man it sure was gross when it was healing and mine was on my left hip. It was gross :ack:
