...What size a male dog, 12 weeks, and currently 11.4 lbs will grow up to be when the breed is not known?
Tough to guess without seeing the dog - can you post a pic where his paws and body are visable? At 12 weeks MANY breeds and breed mixes can weigh about the same - then poof - their growth spurt hits and look out! Post pics - even if we can't better determine, we can all ooooh and ahhh over puppy pictures 8)
very cute. I'm thinking the 60-70 lbs range. Small lab or general hunting hound size. this based on years of German Shepherd ownership & Dr. Doolittle training films.
OMG!! look how fat that little rascals belly is on the couch. And the face on the one eagerly awaiting a potato chip ....adorable!! goodness. Thanks for sharing those.
Totally adorable! I can smell that puppy breath from here My guess is he will top out at about 45 pounds. Be sure to keep us posted
This is actually quite funny. In the picture with the 2 dogs and the child eating the chips, my 9 month old lab mix looks similar to your new addition and my cranky senior (15 years old) looks smiliar the one begging for the chip! My lab was around the same size as yours when we first got her. She was 12 weeks and around 11 pounds. Now she's almost 9 months and at 50 pounds. When we adopted her, we were told she'd be between 60 and 80. It's hard to say. Then we have our 5 month old Aussie shepherd/cattle dog mix. She's currently around 35 pounds. We were told she'd be 60-70. We adopted her at 6 weeks of age and she was 8 pounds then. By the time she hit 12 weeks, she was bigger than what her older sister was when we adopted her.
I should have known that! I had 2 when I was little. Sweet dogs. Did you ever read Where the Red Fern Grows?
I read it the 1st time in the 4th grade ... and have read it many times since then. I know it's silly ... but I still cry everytime I read it. Seems strange to like a book that makes you cry ... but its one of my favorites also. I think I remember discussions about this book coming up more than one on 4042.com over the years. It's really a great book. I loved this book as a child ... and I still enjoyed reading it as recently as a couple of years ago.
I can't bear to read it anymore but I did name one of my Redbones Dan and he won some trophies for coon hunting(with my Dad, NOT me). The other was a boy so he was Copper instead of Ann.
I guess with his head down in the photos, it threw some of us off - couldn't see the length of his ears and with the angle of the photo. . . Coonhounds of any variety are cool dogs - keep in mind that they can be a bit bossy, or I should say, wannabe - they have that dominant personality and many people who don't know Coonhounds think they are just big lugs of love, which they are, but let's just say they are smarter than humans give them credit for. Love him, but be firm and train him young and you'll have a GREAT doggie there!
