For a fellow coworker (who is male) and for a doctor that correctly diagnosed a simple sinus infection?

    A plant?

Just depending on the people a low maintenance plant - without flowers for a guy might be nice.?

They might like an evening with Rick and Lynn-- wonder what their availability is?

I would say nothing for the doctor, he was just doing his job. For the co-worker, maybe a McDonalds Gift card of Starbucks (or any place you might know he frequents) placed in a thank you card, left on his chair or keyboard, before he arrives one morning.

OK, on a serious note. A gift card from Outback, Cracker Barrell, Red Lobster, etc. is always a great gift.

    Just doing his job....

What a copout. We all do our job. I feel appreciated when I'm told that my work is acknowledged. Yes, the doctor was doing his job. Rather than a gift card, though, as a minimum, a hand written thank you note is always appreciated.

I totally agree with the thank you note. Never done it but it just seems to make some sense and might put a smile on their face for a minute. :)

A thank you note seems perfect. Simple, understated and from the heart. Perhaps that with a small gift card to Starbucks. The doctor works at Clayton Urgent Care and you never know when you will need to go back there afterhours and a little brownnosing never hurts!

A thank you card with a small gift card.

Nothing says thank you like giving them the option to buy what they want.
