I can't believe there isn't already a thread about this...What exactly is the strawberry festival, is there anything for kids, where and what time is it? I know it's Saturday, but haven't seen anything about times anywhere. Thanks!

i was just thinking the same thing yesterday, usually Webbie has a thread going on about it a couple weeks in advance. i hope he is going to have a booth this year, it is fun meeting the other 4042ers up there
Here's some links to news of the 9th Annual Strawberry Festival: http://www.4042.com/Local-News/Stories/3rd-Annual-Berry-Babies-Contest.html http://www.4042.com/Local-News/Stories/Strawberry-Festival-Scheduled-for-April-26th.html http://www.4042.com/Local-News/Stories/It-s-Strawberry-Time-in-Johnston-County.html 4042.com will be there with our tent and will be handing out tickets to get you registered for a chance to win a............!!! More info coming soon! 8)
Definitely will do so, have been going to the Strawberry Festival since the beginning, used to work on the CCC to organize it and have just been on the outside the past 4 years enjoying it with my grandbabies- will be good to see you folks again
I'll be in the Johnston County Democrats booth from 10-2, and then in the Elizabeth Church booth from 3-5. Hope to see some of you in one of those places. Before and in between times, I will get to walk around and check out the other booths. This year I'll make sure to look for the Fish Tales booth, I hated I missed it last year! And of course, I'll make it a point to go by the 4042 booth and sign up for whatever the great prize is this year. Who else has a booth there? Tell us all about it so we can be sure and look for you!
And for those of you who were sooooo dissapointed that you didn't get to see the West band at the Clayton parade - well, here's your chance to see them! They will not be marching and opening the parade as they have in the past, but they will be performing a sort of 'pops in the park' this year from like 9-11 (I think?) and also the winterguard and indoor drumline will perform their shows, which are really good!!! They will also have a booth where they will be selling several items including a brand new cookbook!
We enjoyed ourselves last year, although didn't like paying as much as I did for my niece to play ride the things there. Won't be there this year since we are going to Raleigh to the Southern Women's show on Sat instead of Sunday. Hubby is off sunday and it just isn't his thing, so will be hanging out here on Sunday.
why does everything have to happen on the same day???? would love to go to the Women's show, love to check out the beach music thing in Garner but they all occur on the same Saturday every year and my grandkids have decided that the Strawberry Festival is tradition.
I have noticed that also....everything at the same time. Never fails, but daughter wanted to go to the show again and a friend wanted to go with us... Maybe next year.....
Are you talking about a parade at the strawberry festival? If so, what time is it? And does everything else go on all day long? We have soccer games in the morning, so can't get to the festival until about noon. I'm assuming there will be food there to feed my kids...Oh, and where is a good place to park? Does it matter?
Stawberry Festival has become a tradition for us but I'm torn this year. This year though feeling instead we should head to ... Salute the Troops Parade Location: Downtown Raleigh Date: Saturday April 26th, 2008 Time: 10 am-12 noon The largest military parade in North Carolina’s history is coming to Downtown Raleigh. On April 26 the Capital City will be the setting of Salute to Our Troops, a day-long show of appreciation to the men, women and families of the United States military. http://www.godowntownraleigh.com/event/salute-the-troops-parade
Mom, I understand the feeling of being torn between places. We will have a booth at the Strawberry Festival, as we did last year. I first heard about the Salute to Troops last week. My calendar is pretty much planned at least 4 months ahead. Hearing about this event this late was surprising. Too bad we can't do all the things we want. By the way, in honor and memory of Sgt Lance Eakes, the NC National Guardsman from Apex who was KIA on April 18th, we will be donating a portion of our proceeds to the Family Support Group of the NC Army National Guard. Enjoy your day, and know that many of us wish we could be in at least two places at once. H6
I think in the years past - the band WAS the parade.. Sorry, no, I don't think there is an actual parade. The band would play/march down the road to kick-off the start of the festival day. All the booths and stuff stay all day, there are usually several food vendors and other booths there. Parking - you're on your own there, it can be tough! I usually just go to buy buckets of strawberries......yum!!
Girl, do it all.... get up, go to the Strawberry festival for an hour or two, then head downtown for the parade, after parade, pack your cooler and get over to the BMF, then Sunday, sleep late and get up and head over to the Womens Show.
Well if it was just me that would be possible, but i always take the grandkids and make a day of it including lunch at their favorite place, the ClubHouse. i guess i made a mistake when i impressed so strongly on them the importance of tradition - now anything we have done a few years in a row is tradition and Nana cannot break tradition:lol:
