true, but your thread keeps getting bumped, so people are seeing it more. if it weren't for the meat conversation, this might be lost on page 2 by now... plus clinton and obama are just a couple of pork-barrell hotdogs anyway...
I see the value of talking "pork" and keeping the thread alive. Politics, publicity, and hotdogs are a lot alike… you love it, but don’t want to know what is in it and you don't want to know how it is made... So, having said that… I know you all have been patiently waiting for the answer to today’s burning question… Just spoke with Jimmy Butler and the here is the official response about what makes the Bight Leaf Hotdog (Carolina Packers) red. It is #40 red dye. He stated it is the same red dye that is also used in the Children’s Cherry flavored Tylenol. So, the next time you have a headache, eat a hotdog!
so, hot dogs for lunch? i'm thinking about that little place in downtown smithfield in the yellow trailer...
yes, a couple of times based on the recommendation of a local joco boy. honestly, i'm from north raleigh. in wake county, we had jesse jones hot dogs. i always thought they were red...unitl i moved down this way and noticed the difference...
I grew up on Jesse Jones hotdogs, right out of the package...raw, love them.... was the yellow trailer food yummy? super greasy?
it's been a while since i was there, but yeah as i remember it was pretty greasy good. and i'm pretty sure they serve brightleafs, too...
Gosh, I love places like that....haven't been to one in a long time. Can't even remember when the last time was I ate a red hot dog...been forever....gosh and they blacken good on the grill.....
The place is called Crickets Grill. 507 E. Market St. - 919-934-0938. You can feed a large family for less than $5.00! The owner is from Thailand and they make the best eggrolls there! There is no telling how many hotdogs have been sold through that window!
I love Oscar Meyer weiners cold..right out of the pack.. used to eat them that way alot. Not so much anymore, every now and then when I'm cooking them I snag one. Red hot dogs took some getting used to when I moved here. Red is still not my preference, but over the years my stomach has learned to agree to them. If I have a choice, I buy Oscar Mayer or Sabrettes.
