Champagne cakes

I am looking to see if anyone knows of any bakeries that makes Champagne cakes. Im not sure if its just an Iowa thing or if they make them all over.

Not going to help you in the local area but I know Square Rabbit in downtown Raleigh makes them.

They are wonderful cakes. The cake itself is kinda the same consistency of a Angel food with Champagne mixed in the batter. Then it has a champagne mousse in between the layers. Its not an overly sweet cake but very rich and pink!!!

Ok, ok, I know. I emailed my sister to get her recipe but who knows when she'll get around to it.

Nope, nothing like rum cake (besides the alcohol of course). Rum cake is more like a pound cake, this is lighter than that. My sister makes them for weddings, etc. They are beautiful to look at and delicious.

 

I've never tried making a champagne cake, but I've got a good recipe for a Margarita cake!
