ok, maybe I'm alittle behind, but is Johnston county school hours changing? Please say it ain't sooooo!
Yes, they are changing manily for the bus drivers situations. It will be staggard. The schools are now in cohorts pretty much. For instance polenta, mgees, dixon is one, West Johnston, Cleveland, west view is one. Clayton, West Clayton, archers. The times are all staggard abecause they will be using the same buses. I know west view will be starting at 8:45 and getting out at 3:55 next year. CMS starts at 730 and ends at 245 i think. The JCS will be sending info out soon. They still are changing some things.
Slater - my kids go to West View, are you 100% sure about those times? That would actually work great for me! (My little one has to be at preschool at 9:15, so I could do it all in one trip)
I thought the same thing about the time change and preschool--but then I was told my preschool would start later because the teachers needed to get their kids to school.--I was pretty bummed! I just feel bad for the kids who go to early morning care--it will make for a long day at school
does anyone know about Cleveland Elementary's new schedule for next year? I do not like a dismissal time of 3:55!!
school hours So my children will be getting home around 5:00 or after. During the winter months it will be dark by then. I don't think I'm going to like that much, I guess I'll be carpooling again.
Mine go to preschool in Wake, so don't think theirs will change. I do feel bad for the parents who's schedules don't work with this. I'm sure it will help some and hurt some.
:iagree: If it ends up being that late it makes some activities virtually impossible to get to on time after school. Even 10 minutes earlier than that would help some.
school hours schedule from The Herald's article (http://www.theherald-nc.com/education/story/7861.html) Schedule: http://www.newsobserver.com/content/media/2008/4/10/School bus schedule.pdf
I like the 7:25 Middle School time....that means I can drop them off on the way to work, wonder what time drop off starts....
Keep in mind the bus routes will triple. That being so, the few bucks saved are going to make for some VERY tired drivers. Not to mention, little ones will be walking home in the dark..... this is NOT good.
There will be very tired drivers. The asstants will be working longer hours and I would guess they wouldn't be getting any more money. So how many will stay? I want good assitants as well as teachers for my children. Right now my children has some of the best assitant teachers I could ask for at West View. They are wonderful! My children love them. I have never been to the school when I don't meet one and they haven't been pleasant and helpful. They do so much for the schools, teachers can't do it all. I would hate for them to quit because of the long hours on the bus. They are very important to the schools.
Amen! This is my concern too. We need legistlature that gives the schools some of the lottery profits for full time TA's and bus drivers that are just bus drivers.
