Has anyone besides me noticed the large amounts of beetles this spring? We have a bunch of these blackish-brown beetles all over our porches and they are always on the window and door screens. They are really nasty. We can't remember a time when we have ever seen so many!!

A mild winter brings out a lot of bugs. We'll probably have more of all kinds this year.

Last night driving home we were getting bombarded w/ those beetles. Sounded like it was sleeting and we had to pull into the first gas station to clean the windshield b/c we couldn't see out of it.

    YES!

They are all over the front porch!

Is there a way to kill them?

    More birds

Hopefully more bugs = more birds! (?)

I put out a new super deluxe bird feeder for encouragement; hoping they'll stick around for the season. I don't usually feed birds in the summer, but I'm gonna cheat a bit this year. With all the beetles and crane flies, they should do pretty well.

They are everywhere! I noticed them a couple of weeks back. Is it me or do they seem to be drawn to light, like moths and june bugs...not sure if ya'll have june bugs here, we did in Oklahoma.

These beetles are so gross......you can hear them bouncing around on the back door. My daughter stepped on a couple and now there are beetle guts ground in to our porch!! My dog keeps trying to catch them and eat them!!

If we leave our porch lights on, they just flock to the lights. If we cut off the lights and leave the front door open (the wooden door, our storm door is shut) it gets bombarded with them because of the lights in the house. They're ewieee! My neighbor called them potato beetles last night, i've never heard of them!:ack::ack:

Yes, there is a spray (bottle) that you attached to your hose and blast them. If you don't you will have HUNDREDS of grub type worms eating your lawn in the fall and next spring.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy those Bag a Bug things. They work !

Just put the bag-a-bug in your NEIGHBORS yard (well, only if you don't like your neighbor)......j/k...it attracts the bugs to it, so you don't want it too close to your own house...

Beetles love Purple leaf plumbs or any plant with color. Luckily I moved away. We don't have those issues round heya.

This almost sounds like love bug mating season that happens in my area in May and September. I was driving to Orlando and had to stop at every rest plaza along the way so that I could wash my windshield. It was NASTY!

Exactly! My neighbors had the bags last year, and voila, no beetles for me!
