Woman accused of stealing from dying teen Lakesha Lilly, charged with stealing from dead man Posted: Today at 11:09 a.m. Updated: Today at 12:19 p.m. Fayetteville, N.C. — A Spring Lake woman has been charged with stealing from the dying teenage victim of a street shooting, police said Thursday. Lakesha S. Lilly, 26, of 1306-B King St., was charged Tuesday with felony larceny after shoes and a cell phone were taken from James Porter as he lay dying, police said. Porter, 17, of 608 Devoe Ave., had been shot in the head on Jan. 20 and was found behind D&K Tires, at the intersection of Cliffdale and Pritchett roads. Paramedics took him to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators said they believe Lilly approached Porter at least twice while he lay unconscious. She didn't render aid or attempt to call for help, they said. "He was still alive at that time. He didn't pass away until after he had been taken to the hospital," said Jamie Smith, spokeswoman for the Fayetteville Police Department. "She just took his stuff and left him there." Lilly hasn't been charged in the shooting. Investigators said they have identified several persons of interest in Porter's death, and they said they believe other people were with Lilly when the thefts occurred.
the 'hood is simply short for neighborhood....not a black neighborhood, or a jewish neighborhood or a white neighborhood, just a neighborhood. Just like the term 'rents is short for parents....not necessarily any color or ethnic background parents, just parents in general.
Well, I learned recently that shroom was slang for mushroom. This came from some teens at my house. They were talking about the natural acid mushrooms. Go figure. Anyhow, I hope they find out who did it and lock them up. As far as the woman steeling the shoes and phone...she deserves jail for an extended time........ Sherry P.S. When the first teen said shroom, I said "Bless You", thinking the teen had sneezed. That triggered the stupid conversation. Learn something new all the time.
well of course I know the origin in which it came from and of course I have seen Boyz in the Hood. That doesn't mean that everytime it's used it's meant to be racist or an automatic reference to a black neighborhood.
Ken, that area if town has really gone into a depressed cycle in the last 25 years. I owned a home 3/4 of a mile away from that intersection in the late 70's, early 80's. When we sold, the market was actually losing some of its value then. Last trip to see the old hood, it had really gone down in economic value. Lots of boarded up housing, and some places being used for illegal drug activity, apparently. Regardless of the location, the perp is a lost cause.
I guess I don't try and find the twisted, evil side in every little thing that people say and twist it around and try to create some kind of racist controversy. So if that makes me one of those names you called me, then I guess I am.
The homes in the area I lived in were tract housing, mostly 3 BR, 1.5 bath, carport, large lots. Average size about 1500 sq ft. Built in early to mid 60s. I bought the place for 27 K and change. Mortgage payment was 293 a month. Can't imagine that the value would have increased much, as I sold it in a high demand period for 50K in 1986. Last visit through, it reminded me of an impoverished area. Picture the difference in Hill Valley in the back to the Future Movies....one a seemingly normal street, the alternative, a running crime wave.
