So somehow overnight on Tuesday (I think?) Time Warner must have switched their software program and now my HD DVR has been WAAAYYYY downgraded!!! First off, I lost all of my series recordings (ALL OF THEM!) and their "new" program is definetly not as good as the one we had. It actually looks like the same software a friend of mine has and she has a regular cable box, not HD. So, do I not have a HD box anymore?? Why didn't Time Warner let anyone know anything about this. I'm NOT happy!!! Anyone else run into this????
i still need to learn how to use my dvr. I have never used it before. and I am one of those who is technically challenged by new stuff. My old vcr use to blink 12:00. Though i do work with pc's
I got something in the mail from them a few months ago saying they were "upgrading" the digital cable. Then one day it was updated, but we didn't lose much at all.
All subscribers were notified via snail mail. We received our mail I believe sometime in April and also something was enclosed with our last bill. The info detailed the new appearance and changes. I called Time Warner today to inquire as to why 1 box changed but the other 2 had not. I was told that the change would go by model number of the type of box you have. Yesterday they made changes to one style. The other styles will come in time. There was no set date as to when all boxes will convert over to the new style. I checked and we did not loose anything which was saved. I, personally, don't like the appearance of the new guide. The previous guide allowed you to change the appearance somewhat. I hope we can with this style as well but if not we will learn to adjust to the new format. If you have any questions or concerns I suggest you call and inquire with Time Warner. They answered all my questions.
Everyone that has and uses digital cable got a notice a while back stating that over the next few months they would be upgrading the software contained in the boxes, and that recorded shows may be lost. BTW....on the other hand the new program guide does bite the big one. Craig
Yes it does! My husband opens the mail which probably why I didn't see the notice with our bill. No surprise there!
hmmmm guess I better start paying attention to things that come in the mail. Just like I don't read instructions or the read this first stuff. :jester:
I work at Time Warner and yes we did notify customers several times. (bill inserts and postcards) There are several reasons for the upgrade. If you have digital cable and digital phone, you will notice that you now have caller id on your tv. The old system could not handle that. Since I am an employee, we were upgraded about a year ago. It is a lot better than it started out as. Please go to the website and give feedback. They will listen. It took me a while to get used to it, but i like it now. When someone calls i don't have to get up. As far as you recordings, im sorry but in the notifications it stated that might happen.
Our TV settings are all messed up now. All of our channels look fuzzy and distorted. Hubby has not had a chance to mess with it, but TWC maybe getting a call from me next week. I dont like the guide as well either.
I know my husband and I had everything set up how we wanted in our scheduled recordings list. Probably had about 45 shows in order of priority, many with specific settings of when to record, only on certain days or over by a minute or two and such. We lost everything but 5 shows from the bottom of the list. We also lost everything we had saved (which was ALOT!) Along with losing everything, I don't like the "new" system. It seems like a downgrade to me. I don't care what Time Warner says, the other system was much more user friendly.
Last night when I got home during the storm I went to turn on my tv in my living room with the dvr and the menu was all messed up. I could not figure out how to get it just to the TV guide part and stay there. I DO NOT NEED OPTIONS for parerental control or caller id on my tv. Just need the TV guide. I thought with the storms last night something went wrong. Because when I turned in on the dvr wen to reboot itself. I just assumed there was an electrical surge in the line.
We were having problems with ours. Tried to record something and it said the list was full. Tried to play something and it said it wasn't available at this time. Called TWC Monday and told them. I finally had to hang up on the guy b/c he was a donkey to put it nicely. But anyhow had the tech come yesterday. He gave us a new upgraded box and said we were about the 30th customer to get new boxes since the upgrade.
I just don't like the new guide page. It used to be that if you held the "up" arrow, it would scroll fast, but you could still read it. Now, if you scroll fast, it blanks out until you stop. Otherwise, we haven't had any issues with the dvr list, or program settings. <knock on wood> Ours got upgraded about a month ago.
