I got a letter from Clayton Middle stating that if I want my child's report card mailed home I have to send in two first class postage stamps. I've never heard of such a thing before! So now in addition to paying for school supplies up the ying yang we have to pay postage for the schools too? I realize it's not like it's expensive or anything, I just find it odd. Any other schools my children have attended in Johnston County never asked this. Has anyone else encountered this? I'm wondering if it's county wide or just this school.
They can't send it home because it won't be ready until June 13. We can pick it up though, so there is another option. I don't mean to sound like I can't afford to send in two stamps, it's just weird to me. LOL
Yea, I understand - I guess they're just trying to save on postage, probably to help pay for all that bus fuel
Bulk mail is for identical pieces of mail. Each report card is an individual item, so it wouldn't qualify.
IMO if they wanted to save money in this way, the best option would be to make the report cards available online for free, and make an option to have hard copy mailed to you for a small fee.
Well considering how much of our property taxes goes to our schools they should be able to afford a stamp for each kid.
We pay NOTHING in property taxes here compared to other places. My property tax here is less than 2K, where I came from, it would be closer to 10K for the same house in the same kind of neighborhood with the same quality of schools. Off soapbox now:mrgreen: I agree that if they can't have it ready the last day of school, they shouldn't make YOU pay to mail it.
And what happens to those that are not picked up or mailed? I can just see it now....I didn't know my kid got left back or failed - I never got his report card.....
If you don't know how your child is doing by now, the end of year report card shouldn't be a mystery. If you haven't bothered to determine your child's academic prowess by now, and your child doesn't pass, I don't see that you have a lot of room to blame anyone else, until you accept your parental responsibility. If your child is "on the bubble" and you have done nothing, then you get back what you put in. My wife teaches. She shouldn't have to do her job AND yours.
I totally agree with that. I would hope most parents have a clue as to wether or not thier child is passing by now. I know my children are passing this year.
Yep, I still have mine. Nice little cardstock, handwritten, in a manilla envelpe. Imagine how much cheaper it is nowadays with that flimsy, laser printed cc sheet they send home.
