Highway 70 Motors?? We went there one time and they wanted us to pay a deposit on a truck before they would let us test drive it. Hubby told them real fast where they could stick it.

Why dont you just call them first instead of coming on here and raising a big stink? It really could be about nothing. They may just be checking to see if everything is good with the car and you are happy with your buying experience there.

Call and then come on here and start something.

Yep, not getting why they haven't just called them to straighten it out. Doesn't make sense to me. But whatever. I think she is hinting about the same one Clif was fussing about their advertising of some game. Could be a different one though. I don't think he has a real issue either. But again, could be wrong.

i didn't get that from it, i took as she had concerns and asked anonymously, did not name the company, if anyone else had experienced the scam before calling them back therefore opening herself up to the scam if that is what was possibly happening.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. they called me over a month after I bought my car and told me i needed to do another loan and pay another down payment or they would come and get my car.

We didn't (and wouldn't) hae to pay another down payment. They would have just gotten the car back. Actually, we traded in a vehicle instead of putting a down payment. Wonder if they held on to the old car in case something like that happened?

i traded in a car too. i told them they could have theirs back if they gave me mine back but they quickly told me the one i traded in was theirs now. and still insisted that i owed them more.

    Yep, you got it!

I have already got a few responses back via email so my suspcions have been correct. I have been advised by a couple of people to call the finance company (which I will do from my home) first, then call my attorney, then call the dealership.

I do want to thank everyone who has responded. If anything, hopefully this post will educate future car buyers. :)

What did you end up doing? I didnt trade in a vehicle, just put $ down.
This really blows for me because my old car actually broke down, but I was going to sell it to someone. Either way, it looks like I'm going to be without a vehicle in the future (which is another reason why I'm being so proactive with all of this).

i did dust off my boots. raised a little fuss. told them i'd take my business elsewhere. they looked it up to see how many cars me and my family had bought from them and in the end they ended up taking 6 months off my loan and the salesman that sold the car was let go.

Wow. See, I dont see how anyone would want to try and even pull a stunt like that, especially when you are likely to 1.) have the name of the business and possibly your name blasted all over the internet and 2.) being without a job in this day & time.

I just dont get some people.

    Good for you though!

I agree. Most employers now will actually do something as simple as a Google search for your full name and your previous company. No one likes to be scammed and angry people will take such drastic measures as using the Internet to post their story any chance they get. They will probably use full names and the name of the company. Not only does this look bad for the company possibly causing an employee or two responsible to lose their job, but future employees will not want that kind of bad reputation in their business. I actually caused three people at my old apartment complex to lose their jobs that way. I know all three had a very hard time finding a new job after that! I just hope car dealerships really think twice before they try to pull something on today's consumer. Some of us are more informed then they think!

No kidding. This happened to my little brother in Va about a year ago. He gave the car back, he was crushed. :(

Wish I had known of this before.
