K & S Cafeteria

Discussion in 'Discussion Group' started by Johnston County Guy1, Jun 5, 2008.

  1. I would like to know if anyone has heard of a K and S Cafeterial planning to come to Johnston County. Do you think that Johnston County can support one? I have heard this that their are plans in the planning dept in Smithfield to be near Carolina Pottery and the Outlet Mall. I would love to hear from others on this topic! Have a great summer day!

Oh my! That sounds too good!
A few years ago they tried to build one in Garner on Timber Drive and they had the sign out that is was coming and the people in the area complained about the traffic and activity that the plan was shut down :-(

You know, I don't understand why people complain. There really isnt that many places to eat in Garner. And it also makes people want to move here rather then Raleigh or Wake Forest, in theory it would help with values of houses in every area due to progress. When I saw that Lowes Food was coming on Rt 42/Rt 50 I was excited. I mean it's not Wegmans, but still nice.

    Just my 2 cents..

I agree and it is not an area that was overwhelmed with homes or anything. I would love more places to eat here rather than Tripps and O Charleys. lol and it would save me from rushing after chruch to Cary and eat at K & S! My church gets out at 11:30 so I beat a lot of the huge crowd. lol

So which is it K&W or K&S? We have eaten at the K&W in Cameron Village many times and love it and the people that work there and eat there. The food and variety are great. We have never been to a K&S are they the same? Or just sound similiar?

Ditto on Wegman's they are awesome, don't think we will ever see one in NC. But you can find them in VA. Fresh Market is a good second to Wegman's. We would be happy with one of those, Whole Foods and Harris Teeter in Johnston County.

And while we are wishing for the impossible how about a good diner. We miss the Original Pancake House and the Silver Diner.

Two different places. There used to be a K&S at Tower shopping center (off New Bern/64). Not sure if it's still there or not?

Yea, no Wegmans for us here in NC for now. I actually was in New Jersey last xmas and one of the sons was there as it was a new store opening. I asked him if they plan on building in NC, and I was surprised at that time, he said yes. They bought land for it in Raleigh. But he didnt tell me where exactly. That was a year ago, alot of things change.

Regarding Fresh Market, yea they have nice stuff and I enjoy going to them also. Oh my, Diners.. I have to admit, that growing up in Jersey, no one has as many diners as that state. The diner in Clayton on 70 is pretty good. But the food is alot different. Growing up, I worked in a diner for 7 years (thru highschool and some college) and they made everything from scratch, from the rasberry bread and cinnamin rolls to homemade desserts and soups. I have not found anything that is even close to it. I can only wish!

Rockin' Comet Diner.. its ehh.. ok. But definitely not "real" diner food... we had some great diners in the Boston area in Mass. too. The kinds that open at 11:00pm and start to serving breakfast to the midnight masses. Nothing better than diner food at 2:00am after leaving a club, then go home and sleep until noon on a full belly! Those were the days.....

<------doesn't understand the appeal of either K&S or K&W.

I mean come on they even charge you for a pat of butter to go with your roll.

K & S Cafeteria has been looking for a site in Smithfield for the past 12-18 months. But have not found anything that suited them. They are continuing their search for a location and have looked at the Ryan's building, but have decided that it wouldn't meet their needs.
Mr. Smith, one of the owners of K & S, told us about 4 years ago that he wanted to open a cafeteria at 40/42. He said his favorite fishing hole was close to 40/42. That never materalized just like the Garner location never worked out.
