Please come walk to support breasts on Saturday! :D

2008 Susan G Komen Race for the Cure is this Saturday, June 14, at Meredith College. Sign up to walk, run, or make a donation to support breast cancer at http://www.komennctriangle.org/

Maybe next year we can organize a Team 4042 to walk for this cause. It is one very close to my heart, as my mother is a Survivor of Breast, Uterine and Ovarian cancer. I will be volunteering at the mid-point waterstop ... so stop by and drink lots of water. I'll be cheering (trying to) the loudest, with tears in my eyes!!

I'll be walking in it. My daughter and a friend are joining me. I am a recent breast cancer survivor (less than 6 months). This is a cause very near and dear to my heart. Guess I will see you there!

    Me too!

I will be there with a group of friends and co-workers. We formed a small team. I vote for a 4042 team next year too!

Bless You for Surviving and walking!!! I get chills when I hear of survivor stories, because it's so close to me (that's why I'll have tears in my eyes and a huge smile on my face the whole morning). Congratulations!!!!!

Make sure to drink lots of water at the midpoint water stop!! We'll be more than happy to splash some on you, if it's hot! I'll either have a pink Cardinals baseball cap on (if I can find it) or a pink bandana on my head.

I'll see if I can get it organized in time next year. Volunteering at the Walk is honestly one of my favorite days of the year, so we'll have a BLAST having a 4042 Team!!

Our office got a bunch of people together to walk. A couple of things we have been reminded about from one of the girls who has done this for the past 5 years is that parking is horrible around Meredith College so the best thing to do is park at the RBC Center and take one of the shuttles. The other thing is to get there early. I think one of the articles I read said there were going to be 25 shuttles, but it didn't say how often they were running.

I am looking forward to Saturday there myself. Me, my sister, and my oldest daughter are walking. We joined the Canes for the Cure team, and are very excited!! Both my Aunt and my Mother in Law are breast cancer survivors so I will be walking for them.

I sure hope the smokey air clears before Saturday...we don't need air quality to be an issue. For all you walkers/runners: take it easy and don't over-do it!

Agreed on the 'take it easy', y'all!! Be safe!! See you at the half-way point ... we'll have plenty of water ... but bringing your own for the walk helps, too!

The Race was great yesterday! This was my first and I was very impressed with how organized it was and the participation of local companies and volunteers. Not to mention how many walkers/runners there were!! WOW....It was AWESOME!!!!! Everyone has been touched by this horrible sickness and I hope this puts us even closer to a cure!

All survivors wore pink shirts and others wore the white race shirts. Several ran in the competitive race and it was awesome to see them cross the finish line!!!! There was also a tent where survivors and women going through treatments right now could be pampered. :) How fabulous is that?!

It was awesome, wasnt it?? It's such an incredible day. Over 23,000 people in the races ... SO many people affected by Breast Cancer in some way. There for support, for the cause, for friends and family and strangers ... simply incredible.

It was amazing!!! I too was impressed with how well everything was organized from the volunteers to the survivors tent. As a survivor, it was inspiring that so many people come out to support the cure. It was very moving.

I agree, it was awesome! I walked in the 3 mile walk yesterday and plan on doing it again next year. It was the most well organized event I have ever attended and I really enjoyed it!
