Thanks. Got my new glasses today and I thought was not seeing things right. Hey Webbie, are you trying to make me feel like I have lost my mind? No responses needed. Sherry
I have 7 kids. Some of mine are older and would love friends of their age as well. So it would be nice if folks brought their older kids as well. I have ages .....5, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, & 15. I emailed DMJmom a few minutes ago and have volunteered my house as a meeting place/play place if you'd like. We have a pool to keep the kids cool in the summer and burn some of htat energy off. Can't wait to meet some of you all. Got to go. Kids running wild---school's almost out....can you all tell at your houses as well??? Stephanie--mom to 7
Stephanie - I just replied to your post, as well as another person's as well...we're up to 9 "registered" members (meaning I have received an email from you and have emailed you information). I've had people with kids from 4 months to 15 years email me, so we will have a wide range, which is great! I hope everyone is ok with the schedule I have so far, and after we all meet on the 18th we can come up with some more ideas for the next month. I'm really excited and looking forward to meeting everyone, and I know my kids are going to love having something to do with other kids!! Jennifer - Are you aware of what you got yourself into?? You could possibly have 22 or more kids in your yard that day!! (Of course, Stephanie is half of that!!)
Sorry about the delay in sending you my email. Yesterday was a long, hot day. BTW, I'm up for weekend play dates. My husband is a police officer and Jacob and I are left to our own devices every other weekend.---Rachael
Sorry, I just got back on today. It's been very busy the last couple of days. I am in. We would love to find some great friends to hang out with. One suggestion, I do have a yahoo group set up for Claytonmoms. We had a little playgroup going for a while, but we've all kind of gone different ways. We can use this for the new group. It has a calendar, and it will send out reminders for everything. We can even put in birthdays, events, etc. Let me know. You won't hurt my feelings if we don't use it. DMJ I will PM you in a second with my email address.
Already had one person to sign up for claytonmoms at yahoo groups. We can use that as a place to schedule and keep up with everyone. Right now, I am listed as the moderater and I don't mind doing it.
Sarahmama - I got your email and just sent you one back, thanks! I'm not sur what that yahoo group is you're talking about, but if you're at the first meeting on the 18th, we'll definitely talk about it (I'm sure it would be hard to explain in a post). I'm open to any ideas to make this fun, easy and interesting! And we're up to 11 members so far! Cleo - I never did hear back from you after your initial PM, but I didnt' notice if you were posting yesterday, so maybe you weren't on much?
I can't remember if I sent you PMs or if I sent you emails (or both) to your email address you gave me, but I just received your PM about your email address, so think we're caught up...did that make sense??
yahoo groups isn't a really big deal. Everyone would be a part of the group. We would set up our calendar for all of our events. This would include birthdays, anniversaries, playgroups, park days, etc. Then, 1-3 days ahead, depending on how we choose, everyone would receive reminders before each event. There are places for pictures. Also, you can add databases, which could include everyone's information, spouses names, addresses, and important dates. It was a really helpful resource. I would be more than willing to keep that part up.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned this one. And go figure, I'm NOT the local! www.johnstonmommies.com I actually discovered 4042 because of JM. Wonderful group there.
5 & 7 yr old stuff to do? Does anyone belong to McGee's pool? We do, and really like it there. Perhaps we can meet there sometime. I have a 5 yr old daughter and 7 yr old son.
No offense, but some of us are not interested in being that "public" or "official". I for one, do not want all of my information out there, nor do I want my children's pictures floating around the net, or my spouses information available. I'm a whiz with Excel and Access if a db becomes necessary but truthfully, I think we just might be able to keep up on on this thread.
I have had a yahoo group for parrots here in NC for over 4 years. I have very private group and not just anyone can join. It's all how the owner of the group and the mods choose to run it. If the play group goes the way it looks like it's going the yahoo group might be something to look into down the road. I have never had a problem with personal information getting out on the net from the yahoo group. I would keep the option open though. Sheri
