I'm all for security but this goes to far. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080610/ts_alt_afp/ustransportaviationsecurity_080610211153
Just one more reason I am a member of the ACLU. Although, this could be pretty funny. Imagine looking at some bodies...OMG! Sherry
Let's hope they employ more mature/professional people than that. Now, curious about the medical procedures that would be visible in this way. Would that fall under something like HIPAA?
Even mature people would laugh. Just picture some of those bodies. Now, don't get me wrong, I am against this just trying to find some humor in something that has gone so terribly off track. Sherry
I just don't see the humor in it. Sorry. I get disgusted when the gossip rags come out with the bathing suit editions "OH. Look who has cellulite, flab, rolls, bad lipo, etc" Tres Tacky.
Happened to me Discovered the other day that was the 'mystery' machine at LAX last month, also found out you can opt for a 'pat down'. I asked TSA what it was and if it was safe being pregnant, and all I got for an answer was 'oh it's fine, it's just air' Wish I'd have known then what I know now, hope they enjoyed looking at my pregnant self, I know I don't! LOL
Okay, picture this...This great looking guy, who knows he is good looking, is acting all "Gangsta Hip" and has to go through this machine. You know the kind, when the person on the other end "just happens" to look at that stupid new scanner and see a "toothpick" hanging on this person who thinks he is "All That". Yes, I can see that as being funny. Not that I would every want anyone doing this, nor do I think this will ever work, but sometimes one just has to laugh at what people think should or should not work and say what are you people thinking. Sherry
I guess I just don't see the big deal. If someone in their little computer room gets their jollies looking at x-rays of my fat behind. So what. I'm with Harley on this one. It's kinda like going to the doctor, it's unpleasant, but necessary. ACLU my ***. If you don't want to do it, get patted down, which is much more invasive in my opinion.
I was kinda thinking along these lines.....would I rather be "felt up" or looked at through a machine? Hey...if it gets me from point A to point B safely I don't mind going through this machine...after awhile to this person a body will just be a body...like doctors and morticians think...
I'm sure you are correct, but I just don't see this as something to get all wound up about. You have a choice. I'd rather be x-rayed than patted down. I found that to be very uncomfortable, I'm just not a touchy-feely kinda person, especially by a stranger. :?
Where will they hide it, up their butt? I know, if someone wants to do it (the crime) bad enough, they WILL find a way.
That may be true, but there are some awfully stupid criminals out there too. Better to try to catch some than to allow free access to our planes IMO.
Where in the constitution does it say flying is a "right". It's a priveledge, you don't have to get on an airplane in general to get where you need to go. You want to get a plane................... get your sorry behind scanned, wanded, checked over, I don't care. We don't need to give the nut jobs a free pass. My personal freedoms are in no way hindered by a security check. Whether said security check accomplishes anything is a whole 'nother matter. :?
