I have a 2 yo Kenmore vacuum with something wrong with it. Anyone know someone local who can fix it by Wed? Does Sears have a repair center anywhere local? I know I can look online, but thought maybe someone on here has has experience with someone local? I have family coming in on Wed and really, really need my vacuum!!

Isn't there a vacuum repair shop in Garner across from Wal-Mart (in the same shopping center as Belk's)?

I called the one in Clayton, is listed online as a repair shop. Unfortunately though, they send all of the repairs into Greensboro and it takes a week to get it back.

Of all days, I get a call that they're coming to show my house today, and I have no vacuum! Had to borrow the neighbors. We just got back from the beach yesterday and sand is all over the inside of my car! And Grandma's coming in 2 days so need that cleaned as well, and again, no vacuum!!!

I forgot about the place in old Garner, maybe I'll call them. But with working the next 2 days there's no way I can get it done in time anyway.

Yes and they are usually pretty quick with service. I think he charges $60 for a general look and tune up and then extra for any needed parts.

Pickle - What place are you talking about? My vacuum has been at Harbours for 3 weeks now and I am FURIOUS! They said it needed a part, told me it would be in and repaired this past Thursday (they actually forgot to order the part one week, which is why it took so long!) Today I called because they never called to tell me it was done. They tell me now that it's on back order and it won't be done until this Thursday. So a month without a vacuum, with 3 kids and a house that's on the market. I DON'T THINK SO. I told her I'm coming to get it and will take it somewhere else. So does anyone have any other suggestions? Please, someone tell me where I can take it locally to get it fixed? There's got to be someone!

I'm sure for alot less money than the hassle and aggravation has cost you, you could've just bought a new one. Even a $100 vacuum from Walmart would atleast get the job done.

They quoted me $94, It's a $200 vacuum and I love it, it does a great job, and I can't believe it quit working, I know a lot of people with the same one and they can't believe it either. Not sure why mine died...I have a big house and lots of kids and messes, need a good one. I'm very OCD, I need my vacuum, otherwise I would just go get another one. I can't find anyone else online. I called another place but they only work on the ones they sell, he did tell me I could bypass the circuit board, maybe hubby will try that, I don't know. Sears can't help me either, they send them away to Greensboro so I'd still be another week without one. I'm so angry right now, can't believe how unprofessional they've been. Three times they haven't called me when they said they would. Once they didn't order the part when they said, she said it's not his fault it's on back order, but she didn't know that he told me he hadn't even ordered it yet last week, so it is his fault! If he had ordered it when he was supposed to, it would have been in and done!

Or the part could have been on b/o for the last month anyways and you'd still be without it.

Depending on the age of it, i'd just buy a new one instead of getting so worked up about a $200 vacuum. I could understand a little more if you were talking about a Kirby or a Rainbow that you mortgaged the house to buy, or even that purple pet one... but there are bigger things in life to worry about than a $200 vacuum cleaner. Take a xanax and go shopping!

The guy told me the part would be in on Wednesday and he seemed very confident. He told me once it was in it would without a doubt be done first thing Thursday morning. I was out of town all last week so thought when I got home I'd have a message saying it was done because he told me he'd call me when it was done. I got home Saturday, no message. They didn't open until 10:00 today, I called and she had to call him because he wasn't there, and then she called me to tell me that it was on backorder. She said that wasn't his fault. But he never told me it was on backorder. He had plenty of time to tell me that, they've had the vacuum for 3 weeks! At first he forgot to even order it! She forgot to tell him I even called the first week to tell him to order it, then when I called him to tell him I called and left him a message and to order it, he said he would, and then I called to check the status, he said he forgot to order it. So they are not very professional to say the least. And this guy has the same last name as the company (Harbour) so I'm assuming he's part of the company, but do not know that for sure. He's only in once a week and they did not tell me that either until after they said they'd order the part and he'd fix it on his one day in. Now I'm not going to go buy another one, because that's the one I want, and I'm certainly not going to go mortgage a vacuum - would you do that? You'd have to be pretty desperate to do that!

Have you seen the prices of Kirbys and Rainbows... the average person might as well plan to take out a new mortgage to get one. :jester:

(they're that expensive.. maybe you didn't get it.. I'll type slower next time)

    It's Harbour's Sew and Vac

Pretty sure they work on all models. They are right next to Belks. Their # is 779-2933

Harbours - they're the one's that have had it for 3 weeks. That's where I will never go again. I can't find anywhere else around that works on Kenmores.

Tassy - Yes, I know all about Kirbys, and would never buy one. Years ago (probably 20) my mom and her sisters all bought one, and they all broke down within the first year, and the parts were outrageously expensive. She always told me to never buy one. My husband let a salesman in our house about 7 years ago, I didn't think he'd ever leave! I have heard you can get their prices down pretty low if you try, but I'd never buy one. I don't know much about Rainbows. My friend bought one a few years back and seemed to like it. I don't know if she still does, never asked her. I hear alot of people talk about those Dyson vacuums, don't know much about those. I really like mine, like it better when it works though.

no, i checked all that stuff. they told me it needs some board inside it. i'm not even sure if we wanted to fix it ourselves if there's a place where we can buy the parts like that? anyway, guess I'll just send it off to sears and wait another week, it's been this long. what's one more week? just very frustrating. I've never dealt with a company this unprofessional before.
