I've been reading about so many deaths due to ejection from vehicles that could have possibly been prevented by wearing a seatbelt. I was just curious to see the reasons why some people do or don't. Thanks!
I do and both of my kids don't go anywhere without wearing one! Hubby on the other hand, says to wear a seatbelt is against his religion...or something like that.
Whenever we went to bike week at Myrtle Beach hubby tried to get me to ride w/out a helmet on the open road. I couldn't...I was a wimp. But going slow on the strip...I ditched it.
I always wear my seatbelt. When they were small I used to tell the kids the car wouldn't start unless they had their seatbelt on. That made it a habit for them to always put in on.
I try but I am very clastaphobic and sometimes I feel like it is choking me!! Honest, almost to the point of a panick attack!! My mom smoked, but wore her seatbelt, and I would tell her she was going to die of cancer and she would tell me at least she wouldnt die from not wearing her seat belt like me.... well she died of lung cancer. So I try to wear it for her...
Always wear mine and everyone else does also. Took me a while to get use to it when wearing seat belts became law, Now that I am use to it and have been doing it for a long time, it is just habit any more.
We ALWAYS wear our seatbelts. Several years ago, DD took hers off in a moment of stupidity while reaching for something in the backseat of the car. Her friend was driving. In that 30 seconds, her friend slammed into the stopped car ahead of her and my dd went head first into the windshield. Aside from the concussion and horrific cut across her forehead (which later needed plastic surgery) she was very fortunate that she was not injured worse. So, I can personally attest to the fact that even thinking you are safe without a seat belt "just for a moment" is not true.
Not as often as I should, but am getting better about it. Weird, because I am militant about DS wearing his. I'll probably have to get a ticket to fully cure me. :?
Me too... not as often as I should.. and I have gotten a ticket, and it didn't cure me. I have it stuck in my mind that what if the seatbelt jammed and I couldn't get out and the car caught fire and was going to explode?? Also when DH and I were in the accident and our Explorer got rolled over, neither of us was wearing seatbelts. The Explorer landed on its roof, and if I had been wearing mine I would have been dropped on my head when it was undone or cut loose, possibly suffering neck or head injuries. Instead when I got my bearings, I was knealing on the headliner, no neck or head injuries. I just feel like it really depends on the accident, and sure in most cases you are better off wearing it than not. But... I still think it should be personal preferance for adults.
