That happened to me yesterday. No fun. I sure hope you feel better soon and hate to miss meeting you today.
Just got home... We had a good time, thanks to Jen for hosting the first ever playdate! Your husband was funny, he had no idea that was the first ever one! Funny thing happened, I was the last one to leave, and as I was leaving a woman with 2 kids walked up to me, and it was Melynda! She had a list of errands to run this morning and knew she wouldn't make it in time but was hoping to meet some of us before we all left. She was super nice, and we talked for a few minutes. I've actually seen her around the school before, and our sons kind of know each other from school and stuff...she won't be here Tuesday for the next one, she'll be out of town, but maybe she'll make it to the next one, which I think is next Friday, but I'll have to double check that. Thanks again to everyone that came, it was nice to put a face to some names! Sorry to hear about your migraine, Laura, I hate those. I actually am on some amazing meds right now, and for the first time in years, have gone a whole month without one! Yay! So I feel your pain...hope you're feeling better. There were a total of 5 of us 4042ers there, and we had a good time, the kids had a blast!
Thanks Jen, We had fun. It was great to meet those that attended. My 6 year old is not clinging to be for the first time in weeks! She really needed some kid interaction! We look forward to the next date.
We had a great time too! It was nice meeting those that were there. Thanks for opening your house and yard to us Jen! Melynda, that must have been you that pulled up behind me as I was leaving. If I had realized that I would have stopped so I could meet you! Maybe next time.
Yes, Brea that was her behind you. I saw her van and just assumed it was one of us leaving, then realized she was getting out and not getting in...
I'm going to attempt it tomorrow morning with a 5yr, 3yr and 2 year old. Hopefully the baby will sleep.
As of last Friday, I became a stay-at-home Mom ... However, I've been busier than ever the past few days. I'm not sure when I ever had time to work before? Seems like between doctors visits, dentist visits & a zillion other things ... I've been running crazy. Heck ... I haven't even had time to visit 4042 like I usually do. I felt terrible about being late because my son was really looking forward to meeting everyone. DMJmom ... I am SOOOOO amazed at your son's memory. I had to brag about him to a couple a folks this afternoon. I hope I will get to meet everyone else soon.
I should have been much earlier so I could meet everyone. I'll do better next time ... well, maybe the time after next Currently I'm planning to visit some out-of-town family members at the beginning of next week ... so If that's the case, I won't be able to make it to the next playgroup ... but I'm still really looking forward to meeting everyone
Well, we made it through the whole movie without a problem. Baby fell asleep half way thru. Maybe we will do it again. Maybe. I have discovered that I don't really like kid movies. It is a shame you cant just drop them in one theater for a kid movie and then go across the hall to a grown up one. I'm sure someday when they are teenagers they will make us go to separate movies anyway!
hahaha...that would be nice....maybe they should have a movie daycare and the adults can so see a grown up movie....only in our dreams
UPDATED SCHEDULE Hi everyone! I have made some changes to the schedule, based on some things we talked about, and some things I have been thinking about (like the heat!) You'll notice I moved up the times for the movies, just because I thought we should meet by 9:30, so we have time to go in and get our refreshments before the movie starts. And I moved up the park times so it's not too hot, if you all think this is too early, let me know. I also added one date and changed one date, so if you were writing these down, please check these... 6/24 - White Oak Cinemas - Veggie Tales - meet by 9:30 - I won't be there 6/27 - Lake Benson Park - 9:30 6/30 - White Oak Chick-fil-a - 11:00 7/3 - Rainbow Lanes (Bowling Alley for those new to the area) 10:00 7/9 - White Oak Cinemas - Bee Movie - meet by 9:30 7/15 - Pullen Park - 9:00 7/18 - My house - 10:00 - More info to come later 7/22 - Kid's night at Chick-fil-a - Kid's meals are 99 cents Other ideas that have been mentioned: Marbles museum, Raleigh museums, Michaels crafts days, chuck e cheese, day trip to wet & wild, library storytime, putt-putt. any other ideas, any input? you can pm me if you want...also, does anyone want any afternoon dates, like the bowling or others? parks are easier in the morning because of heat, but indoor can be made in afternoon for older kids, if you want, just let me know. i don't parents with older kids to feel left out! Oh - and I'm still looking for more people to offer their house for playdates, I'd like to add more of them to the list too, so please step up to the plate if you haven't already! If you have offered, I'd like to know a certain date, instead of me just offering us to come to your house (like I did to poor Jennifer!) Brea - it was nice seeing you last night! I wonder if any other 4042 parents were there last night?
I was there last night...Nice to meet you too Brea! DMJ...I can't believe Jen didn't point you out to me! LOL!
Brea didn't mention there were any other 4042ers there! Maybe she thought you wanted it a secret...it was so crazy in there, Jen and I didn't really get a chance to talk at all. I really just got to say goodbye and told her I'd be calling her later on this weekend. Sorry I missed you! I actually wasn't there long, I dropped my kids off early, then came and picked them up about 8:00, and stayed with them until about 8:30 then we left.
It was great seeing you DMJmom and great meeting you rcmommy! I'm so sorry I didn't hook you two up. It was so chaotic and loud that I was really distracted. I'm not used to that much commotion! I just wasn't thinking. It was sad to say goodbye to Jennifer and Up & Away. I know my daughter will really miss going there. I'm so glad for these playdates so that she can stay connected to other kids during the summer!
MOVIES TOMORROW! Don't forget: Veggie tales for the little ones tomorrow at 9:30 (movie starts at 10) at White Oak! I won't be there, but if someone wants to step up to the plate and round up everyone...I guess just pick a spot to meet and just post on here if you're coming, so you know how many to expect. I have been told 2 people will be out of town but I don't know about the rest. I think we'll have a good turn out Friday, since that will be fun for all ages!
