Turning yellowish on the vine? Anyone know? I've never had this problem before and it's peeing me off. :x
No expert, but i remember something about the balance of the soil could cause that ( i miss growing my cukes - next year it will happen).
I would like to know also. What chemicals can I put down in the garden this late in the game to get my cucumbers to grown and not be stunted yellow or green? Nothing is doing good this year.
Found this on Google? not sure if it helps Why are my cucumbers turning yellow an dropping off? When my cucumbers get about an inch long they turn yellow and fall off. What am I doing wrong? ... (Asked by KATHY H) . <grin> Believe it or not those are the MALE cucumbers! Only the female ones will continue to grow and make fruit. You could also have a problem with pollination, just pick the male flowers and rub them into the female blooms to "knock 'em up" and get a full size cuke! See the links below. ...(Answered by greenghost) related terms: cucumbers, those, flowers, blooms
Hmmm. I'm at a lose for words. I'll think about it on the way home and get back to this later. By the way, did I tell yall that cucumbers give me gas? :jester:
I just came in from my garden and found the same problem. I googled and found various reasons... too much water, too much nitrogen, overripe, mosaic virus, spider mites, one even noted that if they were pickling cucubers (which this particular plant is) it is merely overmature cukes. A common suggestion was to pick these immediately lest your plant thinks it is "done" for the year and it does not produce anymore fruit. My vines look fine, and my other varieties look okay, too. So.... I dunno? I did find some smaller ones on that vine that were yellowing also. I might just rip them out and start over. Good luck, and get those yellow cukes off of there ASAP. Some suggestions I found for the yellow cucumbers was an extensive candied cuke recipe (says they will taste like candied apples!), pickles, and a chinese soup - maybe China King will buy them from us?

Simple robbie, the female has the ovary. OK, not really simple, I just looked it up and learned something new myself. I must say though, I have never had to force my blossoms to play footsies to get fruit.
Ok, so now I pull off the flower on the bottom and rub it in the flower on the top and that ovary will be a big healthy cucumber? Something has eaten all my beans also even thou I used sevin dust. Tomatoes are ok. Eggplant are the best. But my cucumbers look sick every year and so does my peppers. I swear one year I will have the best weed free garden and every year I fail. Can't even get good fruit now. I guess it is a sign of aging. Used to do everything great when I was younger and now everything is a project! hehehehehe
Lots of weeds this year for me, some I had never seen before. NC, the home of exotic weeds & insects. lol
OK, so I did get that part right. YES, YES, Now I will go outside with some romantic music and do what the bees were supposed to do for me.!
Well wait a second, Can one male take care of all the female ovaries or do I have to be pickin' flowers all day?
Geesh! Just like a man! What a manwhore!!!!!:lol::lol::lol: Stop trying to get off cheap by only picking ONE FLOWER!! LOLOLOLOLOL
This is certainly one of the more hilarious threads that have been posted here. I think we should set a goal to keep it going...innuendos and all. Thanks for laugh, guys. The best part was I could imagine all the straight faces while this discussion has gone on.
