I have at&t as well. Tough to beat. I drive up and down I-95 to Smithfield, Fayetteville and the Laurinburg area and always have service. They're going to be adding another 44 cell towers to NC alone in the upcoming year. So take service that is already good and make it better? Ha, its a no-brainer.

We got ours The Buzz+™ ic602 by Motorola so we know it's not the phone, it's the service. I've been thinking of paying them the $150.00 penalty and breaking the contract. I do have to say every month when I call their CS group due to her bill being incorrect they gladly credit the account. When I purchased the phone/plan last Christmas, I made them write on the contract to block internet and IM/text. Every month they still charge her for some and for some reason they don't block all of them. They always remove it from the bill, since I specified it on the contract that they had to block it.

I think since Alltel and Verizon are merging, then you can't go wrong with them. They are the top carriers with the best service/coverage, so them merging only means the coverage will get even better.

Shoot, when I had AT&T I couldn't even get coverage in areas around Clayton, hardly any in Harnett Co and in Greenville, it was terrible. Sprint was just a little better, but still terrible.

3 phones 4000 minutes per month 199 includes taxes and all the *other charges*. went with Alltel last year or the begining of this year and have only dropped one call. We have 20 people in our *circle* - those that are on a different carrier but we talk to them a lot now for FREE. All 3 phones are LG phones and they are GREAT!

I wish I understood why I was so apprehensive about this change!

I bet I've spent close to an hour each on the phone with Alltel and Verizon, going back and forth, and back and forth, trying to figure out what to do.

It's very scary, this whole cell phone switch thing.

I think though, that I've decided to go with Alltel. I think that with their "My Circle" plan, I'll be better off dollar wise. My DH said, "I can't believe you're gonna lose your beep-beep!", but I hardly ever use it...so...

Sigh....at lunch time, I'm headed over there. Wish me luck, lol...

I am not sure they know what will happen after Verizon finishes the acquisition of Alltel. Just make sure your needs are clearly documented.

It is my understanding that there won't be any noticable changes and that it will be a choice whether to convert over to the Verizon billing or not.

Do you have information that contradicts that?

What is the comparison pricewise with Nextel? Is it cheap enough to make up for the free beep beep?

I'm currently on Nextel's $99 unlimited plan, which with taxes, costs me about $110.

I'm switching to Alltel's $59.99 plan, which has 900 anytime mins, free nights and weekends and the My Circle feature with 10 numbers.

On the outside, it looks like losing my free incoming and my beep beep might hurt, but when I look at it, those 10 My Circle numbers make up for it. I can call them and talk all day and night and it doesn't count against my 900 anytime minutes.

Even when I add up everyone I talk to on a regular basis, I might still have a problem filling all 10 spots....so, for me...this plan will save about $40 a month.

Plus, if you look at the coverage maps...Alltel covers many more spots than Nextel. In fact, Verizon and Alltel's maps are almost idenitical.

And I have 15 days to change my mind.

Cool, let me know how you like it, my contract is up too but because DH's phone is supplied by his company i get nervous about losing the beep beep even though he has cell service too on it.

Yeah... i love my circle so much; possibly too much. my GF and i rely on it heavily. i took her off of it for a while last year when we were going through a rough patch, and forgot to add her back in... the cellphone bill was $1500. =O Luckily her cellphone is verizon, so the alltel buyout will put us in the same network.

Make sure you don't forget to put people you talk to frequently in your circle. you can change the numbers every day, and the changes will apply @ 12am.

Okay! I'm officially an Alltel client now. Set up my circle, still have one spot left...

And just finished transferring all the numbers to my new phone. Ugh, that was a big ole pain in my rearend.
