Well, I'm sitting here playing around on the old IMac (Lord, I love my IMac). My daugther (rising 8th grader) is spending the weekend with one of her school chums. I started reflecting on what songs were hits back in 1972 when I was an eighth grader: http://www.musicoutfitters.com/topsongs/1972.htm Of course, I had to call up YouTube and play some of my favorites. Man, has it been that long ago? The Jr. High (Wake Forest-Rolesville) where I attendend is a dilapidated piece of vacant junk, but what memories they hold. It's amazing what a particular song will do for the old memory bank. Well, back to the songs of 1972. What a great year! Hope your 8th grade year was just as good.
Y'all sure are some OLD men! I graduated in '85 which means I was in 8th grade in '80/'81. I remember that Valerie & Eddie got married while I was in the 8th grade, but that's about all I remember about Junior High. :ack:
1980/81? Great day! You're a mere child. I was enjoying one of the best tours I ever had with Uncle Sam's USN in sunny Pearl Harbor, HI.
I was in the 8th grade in 88. I remember the graduation song was 'I've had the time of my life' from dirty dancing. I'm a former Jersey girl so there was lots of big hair involved too. And this girl the used to be my best friend stole my dirty dancing cassette tape!
8/88 Not a bad combination. I've never seen that movie. The only scene I ever remember was the one that's always shown with the girl sitting on a stool and slinging her hair and water going every where. The best dance ever is still "The Bump".
I was in the 8th grade in 89/90, I think! I graduation from HS in 94. I'll be 32 this week! I'm not skeered! 8)
8th grade http://www.musicoutfitters.com/topsongs/1971.htm HS Graduation http://www.musicoutfitters.com/topsongs/1975.htm
1990/1991 baby! http://www.musicoutfitters.com/topsongs/1990.htm http://www.musicoutfitters.com/topsongs/1991.htm It's funny, because I love some of these songs, but don't relate them to my 8th grade year!
Ready and I graduated in the same year! I met my hubby in 8th grade!!! We went to a few school dances together. Then we 'met up' at fireworks together. I came with my family he with his, but we sat together! That was the beginning of it all! (we call it our first date, but I guess it really wasn't since we were too young to drive??) We got engaged in 10th grade (I would kill my kids!!!) and married in December of the year we graduated!! I was already in AIT, and he was still in Basic! What lovely photo's that made! Ugggg. So 8th grade has lots of special memories for us. Our middle son is a rising 7th grader and it is hard for me to believe we were only a year older than he is when we met. Our son has NO interest in girls yet, thank GOD!!
I was an 8th Grader in 1974. My 2 beautiful children are both College Graduates! I don't remember much about school except for I couldn't wait to be finished.
Where are all the other OLD FAHTS out there?!! I know I'm not the oldest, maybe just this AM. I passed on to CHS in 1968, 8th grade no big deal back then. My daughter just "graduated" 8th, with a special ceremony and too much pomp for the circumstances. She thought she was SOMETHING! Where are you Bucky?, I KNOW you're a MUCH OLDER FAHT than I !!!
