Does anyone have some estimates of the price of a family of 3 to go to Disney? We will not be going anything soon. We just would want to get some ball park numbers so we can get some idea of how much to save. We will be saving the money over a period of time.
Thanks ahead of time for your information.

It really depends on what you are looking for. Driving or Flying? Standard resort or moderate resort? Meal plan?

I am pricing one for next year, family of 3 we are flying they will pick us up at the airport and take us back, we are staying 7 days 6 nights. Not sure on resort we priced standard and moderate, and are considering the meal plan.. Are trip will range between 2 and 3 grand! depending on whether we add the meal plan and moderate resort!

just FYI you can go to disney.com and price a trip using this years calendar and get a pretty good idea of what it will cost flight and all if you choose to fly.

Really just too many variables to honestly answer such a question, length of time, quality of lodging, which Disney Park or Parks you plan to visit, cost of parking, eating and the list goes on. But if you just want a guess, go to their website, because the dates will be a big factor with the charges of ticket admission (type of ticket, general admission per park versus a park-hopper per day etc.) and lodging for one of their resorts or even staying off of resort, we've done both.
And another pointer from someone that has been 5 times in the last 10 years, if you estimate your trip at $2,000 for an example, plan on it costly closer to $3,000 just for those little unexpected things.
Good luck and another little hint, end of Jan. is in my opinion one of the best times to go, it's after Christmas break and before spring break crowds.:)

We just came back from Disney and I'd have to say that most of the people using the meal plan seemed to be very happy, asked several what they thought and they said it appeared to working out great for them. For us, it would not have worked out as an advantage due to the age of our kids (young adults etc.)

The meal plan worked out wonderful for us, 6 adults and 1 child. I highly recommend it.
Park hopper, unless you are staying on the grounds, (not the outside grounds like we were), I don't recommend it. We did not get any use out of it. The 4 days we were there, we only went to each park one time cause even though we were on a resort near the parks it still took to much time by bus to get to each one. The only parks we didn't finish was Ecot and Animal Kingdom (due to a bad storm)..but for the most part we covered all the big rides.
Fast Pass, major plus!!! A must have for the more popular rides.

There was a thread started about this just a couple weeks ago on here, was it from you or someone else? Anyway, there were a lot of people that answered, I was one of them, with some prices on there. And yes, a lot of variables, age of child, flying, driving, length of stay, on Disney or off, cheap vacation or all-out fun, etc. You can do it cheap, or you can really do it all-out and have a blast. There are many cheap hotels off Disney that offer shuttles, and are nice, not fancy, but nice, within 2 miles, a 10 minute shuttle ride, if that's what you want to do. A family of 3 though can also stay at a Disney value resort pretty cheap, especially off-season. When are you going? How old is your child?

Hi! I'll be happy to give you some Disney tips. I have lived in FL for 20 years so here's what I knew:

    1. Low Season = Low Price: Go from September through end of February. Don't go during holidays. You'll find hotel pricing really cheaper.
    2. Sign up with MouseSavers.com - they give out discount codes for hotels, cheaper park tickets, etc.
    3. Get discount codes from themouseforless.com also.
    4. For non-Disney hotels rate, get here at wdwinfo.com
    5. Check often with TravelZoo.com for Disney package special.
    6. Don't make RSVP on Disney website - they're usually cost more. Call instead and they'll be happy to give you better rates.
    7. Bring backpack: stock snacks and lunch in your backpack. You'll have plenty of money to buy a nice, big dinner with dessert.

I hope this helps. Good luck and have fun! :)

Not sure if it is still available but Disney offers FREE meal plans if you stay in one of their resorts August-mid-Sept. If saved our family of four over $400 for our 3-day/4 night stay and we ate well!
