I'm wanting to sign Thing One up for VBS, but I know nothing about the programs in this area or the churches. Please post here regarding your church's denomination and their VBS program including theme, dates, times, and ages. Thing One will be 4 on July 7th. TIA.
I go to Christ Community United Methodist Church across from the park on Amelia Church Road. We are going to have our VBS the first full week in August, the 4th - 8th. We haven't started registration for it yet. It's in the evenings started with dinner at 6pm for the kids and ending at 9pm. The theme this year is Power Lab. I know the hours are late for some kids. A lot of times, with the preschool kids, the parents come and pick them up a little early. The day for all the kids begins with dinner, then we go sing some songs and there is a little skit preformed relating to the Bible point. Then the kids are released to their groups. With the preschool kids we split them out but they kind of do their own thing, different than the big kids. They usually have a craft, story time, game, and a coloring/activity sheet all relating to that day's Bible point. The preschool aged group will also get some free time to play on the playground (weather permitting of course.) Then the day ends with more praise time, skit and prayer.
Elizabeth United Methodist Church on Cleveland Rd. will have VBS on Saturday, July 19, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. The theme this year is God's Big Back Yard. All children are welcome.
http://www.whiteoakchurch.us/vbs.html this is the one I am signing ds up for, but probably to far for you to drive!!
We already had ours June 23-27. Our theme was Power Lab!. It was very good, I have seen a lot of churches doing it. I was a staff leader (Pre School Games). Find one that meets your schedule (day or night options are out there). It will be fun for him/her.
VBS Cleo - we would love to have Thing One come to our VBS. My church is Hocutt Memorial Baptist (Southern Baptist) and our VBS will be July 14 - 18 beginning at 6:00 p.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m. Our theme this year is "Outrigger Island - Living God's Unspeakable Truth". Our nights are divided into 4 segments - Bible Study, Music, Crafts and Recreation/Snack Time. Our parents sign in the child at the beginning of each night and at the end of the evening, the parent/grandparent comes into the church and picks up the child from their group. Only designated people can pick up a child. If for some reason a different person will be picking up a child, the teacher must be notified so we will know who to look for. If I can answer any other questions for you, I will be happy to do so. Our church is located at the corner of Robertson & Horne Streets.

VBS I saw that Oakland Presby (on Cleveland Rd near DR Wells) is having theirs the week of 7/7, and it's from 9am to 12:30pm.
What is VBS? What is the age group and can anyone sign up for it (even if we don't belong to the church)? Thanks
Vacation Bible School! Can't help you out Cleo, even though I did see a Bible the other day at church, we don't do such things!
Hey girl -- the pastor is Dr. Steve Roy. He's been there for almost 2 years. Really enjoy his preaching. Saw your Dad the other day at a ballgame! Hope all's well with you!
Rostrawberry - we would love to have your child(ren) in our VBS whether you belong to our church or not! We have lots of children from other churches and those who do not regular attend church.
I would also think anyone is welcome. Our church had about 150 kids, and i think 50 were not from our church.
Power Lab Decorating ideas If anyone has already completed their VBS at their Church and did the Powerlab, please pm me if you can give me some ideas on decorations. Perhaps you may have some leftovers that I could use for our church as well. Thanks.
