You might consider trying http://www.fsbo-nc.com/ We used them in another area of the state and found the magazine advertising brought a lot more buyers than without. Not sure if they offer this option here but for ours, we paid 1% at closing to fsbo. For that we got the advice of an agent (including pricing the home), advertising (including mls), and help with paperwork... etc. It was worth the money $. With two prior homes we sold FSBO ... we definitely found using this service worth the $.

What to do about pets when selling? Anyone that has a house for sale or have sold in the past, did you happen to have a pet? If so what did you do with your pet while the house was on the market? We will be selling our house soon, just wondering what to do with our cats. We have 3 indoor only cats. I was thinking about getting a cheap 1 bedroom apartment, just move the cats to the apartment, maybe along with myself this way the realtor could stop by at anytime with potential buyers? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Hmm... Daily Pet boarding might be cheaper? I dunno. Just wanted to ask if you would be letting people know that you had 3 indoor cats. I know my son would be miserable moving into a home that had cats.
What about crating the cats while you are not home in case the realtor needs to get in to show the house?
Harley girl, was that house on corner across from railroad tracks. If so I know where you are talking about, and they have done lots of work. I live in Kenly.
Crating the cats is definitely an option, that is what I advise my sellers to do in most situations. I have showed homes before where the owners would shut the pet up in a room, which I do not recommend because it prevents the room from being shown. Daycare is also an option. Good Luck!
Thanks everyone for the advise. I think the apartment route might be the best as we will have to get one anyway, as we will not start to have our new home built until after we sell the first one. I don't want to own 2 homes with the way the market is right now.
Hi Steeler you may also want to consider leaving some of your furniture in the home for staging puposes. You are fortunate that you have the ability to move into another place. It is easier to show a home that is vacant as there are typically no scheduling conflicts.
Steeler, We were not sure what option we wanted when we decided we were ready to move. We had a realtor come out here as well as a builder who said he may be willing to buy our house and even a 'we buy houses for cash' type company. One real estate agency said they would buy ours if we moved 'up' to one of theirs... We wanted to find out our best option. I was 100% upfront with them all, so I didnt waste any one's time. They all wanted our business and were great about it. It gave us some great ideas and they all came up with what their list price would be based on market analyses. So it helped us understand what they thought they could sell our house for. You mentioned you were building, our builder is willing to buy our house in exchange for building us one... it isnt at what we could get on the market during better times, but it ended up being what we choose. You may want to look into that option. Good luck... we are just starting the process and it is overwhelming, yet exciting at the same time!
If you have a laundry room, you can put your cat in there, along with food/water and litterbox. Put a nice sign up on the door "Please Do Not Enter, Cat Inside". Be sure to let your realtor know about it. Laundry room is small and many often potential buyers don't care what the laundry room looks like (they care more about kitchen, living area, yard, etc). You could use your walk-in closet or one of small room. Lucky for us, my mom lives just down the street. Whenever we get a call from our realtor about showing appointment, my mom stop by our house and pick up our cat to take him with her to her house.
anyone know of someone looking for a house? We are selling our house because we are building a new house down the street. Problem is...the new house will be done by the end of the year, and the current house has not sold yet. We started this whole process back in February of this year, before the whole housing/market crisis happened. Now, we need to find a buyer fast. We have our house listed on the MLS and Realtor.com. It is 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath and in a wonderful neighborhood with only 40 lots. We are willing to negotiate with serious buyers. Check out this link.... http://www.bloomkey.com/7017 . It is also listed in the MLS under #999745. Schools are McGee's Crossroads Elementary and Middle; W. Johnston High. Thanks!
