For whatever it is worth, I did not intend to "spam" your thread with info on our local club. It was obvious that you already had your playgroup going, but I truly posted it for other lurkers that might be interested. If that broke a rule, I apologize. I did not do it to insult, aggrivate or bother you in the slightest; I did it with the best intentions of sharing info about a group that has been a wonderful part of my life and the lives of my children for over 5 years. I congrated you all on the establishment of your playgroup. I think it's great!

However, you simply could have nicely asked me to refrain from posting in your thread about your playgroup; I wouldn't have minded. I don't know if you have been burned on this 4042 site before, but the tone that you took was rude and offensive, and purposely so.

I wish you the best in your playgroup, and trust me, I won't be posting on 4042 anymore. I only came on here to look in the Classifieds and noticed that there was a Discussion Board. I don't know if TPTB of this site want to encourage new members, but it certainly seems to be a closed and unwelcoming group, based on the response that I received.

    Best of luck, and goodbye.

    Ain't I a stinker?

    Paula -

It's not that I wasn't nice in the beginning. It is pretty much the standard response that any newbie would get coming in the door, not reading a thread and advertising services. But you kept coming back for more... so I got snarky.

Sure, you don't make any money - nobody said you did. But, it is still a paid membership no? With 70 something members, not what the folks here were looking for. It was all discussed at LEAST 10 pages back - so the lurkers saw that too. As well as suggestions for other mommies groups in the area - but the consensus was "Lets just get together and let our kids play. No Bunco. No homebased business networking, no strangers, etc"

    See?

And I doubt webbie could care less about a newbie agetting a mild flaming from Cleo, there will be five more folks registering tomorrow. You can stick around too, you just gotta stop by the 4042 shop and pick up your thick skin and your sense of humor.

    Welcome to 4042. :)

    Cleo --
Thanks for the "welcome," but I don't think I'll stick around. I couldn't resist coming back to see if I would get a finger wagged at me again, but this is it for me. I fully admit that I didn't go through all the pages to see other references. I deleted my info about our club, so it won't be there for anyone to see anymore. But, just for the record, the money that people pay for annual dues goes towards snacks at monthly meetings, charity drives, local organizations, etc. Only $2 goes to paying anyone (and it is on a national level), so the vast majority of our whopping $23 dues goes towards club functions and local charities (House of Hope, Make a Wish, etc).

Best of luck with your playgroup. Some of my best friends are from our playgroup, as well as my kids' best friends. My boys are going to school this year, and baby #4 will be getting a playgroup when it's born in 2009. Playgroups are wonderful, and I hope your's is a long lasting one.

    Best of luck,
    Paula

I'm up for the movies Wed as long as we can hit the park afterwards. I fear afternoon naps are becomng a thing of the distant past at my house. I'll guilt LJK into coming too since she publicly announced I wasn't all she needed in a friend:lol:

    Hi everyone!!

Sorry I have fallen out of touch.
I was getting very bad chronic migraines and the medication they had me on put me out of commission for awhile but I want to get back in the loop:)
Can someone please fill me in on upcoming dates? How is everyone doing?

RCMommy - It was nice meeting you this morning at the movies. Sorry I didn't meet you others, I wasn't sure who to look for...I was the one with the 3 boys, one was on a leash.

Jennydiane - I know how you feel, I was finally put on some meds last month for migraines and it's the only thing I've found that actually works, I'm going on 2 months with no migraines and it feels great! Woohoo! Here's the schedule, and I'll try to add some dates to it soon. I might have to reschedule the date at my house for the following week. My anniversary is the following day, and hubby keeps hinting around at us going out of town, and just in case he surprises me like he did last year, I dont' want you all showing up at an empty house!! So it will probably be the next Wednesday, but I'll let you know for sure. I wish I could go to the Pullen Park date, but I've gotta work Tuesdays, unless I can talk him into switching my days...8) I can't believe how fast this summer is flying, it's already almost mid-July!! before you know it school will be starting! It seems like everywhere we go, my kids see someone they know, either from school or up & away, and alot of times it ends up being someone from 4042...it sure is a small world!!

Melynda - I think our oldest sons would get along great, sure would be good to get together sometime! How is the "stay at home mom" thing going for ya?!

Hey DMJ! I forgot it was movie day 4042er's! The playdates haven't worked out for us this summer. We've just been doing our own thing. My oldest knew your oldest and there you go. Although DH was...who was this boy you let our girl sit with during the movies???...8) We actually tried to find ya afterwards. A large group went to Chickfila afterwards for lunch. It was nice to get out of the house, but nice to be back home now.

    later taters.

We used to do Chick fil a after the movies, but kids were never hungry after all the popcorn, and I have to do the popcorn, it's the only way I can get the little one to sit that long. As you could probably tell, he likes to wiggle a lot! The next time I might try to get a sitter for him and just take the two older ones. How old is your oldest, I was asking my 8 yo if she was his age, but he wasn't sure.
